It was fun to see that again. You know, I can enjoy a song that has a lot of an artist's personality in it even if the song itself is just okay. This song is all Vanity. Seriously, no one else could have done this song in this way. That's why I can give credit to a singer that writes even if they may not have the best voice - because you know its coming from that person, so it means something to them in some way.

Denise was Vanity before Prince. Prince just gave her the name. When he was making Purple Rain, he created these "characters" but Denise was already a character; he just drew attention to her. This is what the music scene lacks nowadays. There are too many actors reading scripts written for them on the stage and in interviews and not enough unique personalities manifesting themselves on stage. Its part of what makes music these days so boring.

Okay, yeah. Very true, very true.

I give a ton of points for personality, but still - it's just really a bad song.

Depends what you're looking for. Pretty Mess isn't one of my favourites, but I know people who love it, and they know little about Prince and her history etc - just like the song.

Vanity's 2 solo albums are both two of my favourite albums of all time by any one. They have tons of character.

Love that dress cool

"Which camera's on me? All of them?" lol

Does anyone know what she tosses at the crowd at 2:26?

Her "Wild Animal" performance on that episode was also posted. I like this song better than "Pretty Mess". She really worked that cane, coat and that dress lol lol lol

There is no chick in show business with the combination of charisma, beauty, and balls out sexiness that Vanity had back then. The greatest Prince chick ever - hands down.

I think the closest person nowadays in comparison to Vanity is Nicole Scherzinger. She is very sexy, beautiful and charasmatic. I would love to see Nicole perform a Vanity song. I could imagine her singing Romantic Voyage or Skin on Skin.

Oh how I love Vanity. Personality for days...In some of her old interviews it's hard to tell if she was high or not because she was always hyper..still is..She really could have become a bigger star. Her face was made for the big screen.

I love a lot of her solo work actually but the songs with the extra high, breathy vocals...eh..I just cant....so I dont like Pretty Mess. But an entertainer she sure was. One of my fav proteges for sure.
