"My Name is Tamar" to be released March 24th

Man, it's been a long time coming, but Tamar's album drops all over the place March 24th. I've heard it and like it a LOT.

Tamar also is performing this Saturday night in Houston at The Blue Door Lounge.

She's also going to be on "Great Day Houston" Thursday morning.

I saw her performance in Tyler Perry's last play "Madea's Big Happy Family", and I must say I was blown away by her voice! I had never heard her singing before and I thought she is AMAZING. I'm not used to Prince working with vocalists of that caliber who aren't already show biz veterans on an A-list level. If this is one of his former protegeès and he let this one slip by, then boo on him! hammer

Good heavens, what an instrument she has! faint

Ohhh, I can't wait. I'll be picking it up...lover her voice. Milk and Honey was awesome! I'd love to hear the story about why M&H wasn't released and why she left the Prince camp. I suspect there are some interesting facts there...

Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol

Thank you so much for posting this. This just confirms in my mind my first thought when I heard Tamar was out of the purpledom... "good for her! now maybe she can work with someone who can REALLY help her launch her career"

To be honest, none of Prince's protogees except Sheila and the Time have any success. And both possess musical talent INDEPENDENT of their association with Prince.

All the girl protogees only acheived publicity buzz and a lackluster album.

Tamar has too much talent to be turned into a whispering, yelping female-version-Prince clone.

She's been waiting for this for a long ass time! This is actually like her third solo album now! I'm glad its finally being released. She is super talented.

Though, people calling her a Prince protege need to step back a bit. She was in the original incarnation of Destiny's Child.

Well, I wouldn't know.... SINCE HE NEVER RELEASED! confused I guess he didn't want to ruin his ruinous track record with protogees.

Universal wanted Prince to promote 3121 more, including a tour. Part of the deal was that they'd release Tamar's album. Prince instead chose to tour to promote Tamar's album, therefore not holding up his end of the bargain. Universal cancelled Tamar's album.

Well piss on them too! I really want to hear this CD... I guess I will have to risk my computer's health and go look for alternative means of hearing this CD (Milk and Honey) because it doesn't look like it will ever get released.

And he wonders why people bootleg. disbelief

Well, kind of, I guess. I mean what does it say about her time with Destiny's Child that if she's known to the world at all (outside of Prince fans) it's because she was a Prince protege for 5 minutes?

I wonder why Prince didn't simply do a 3121 tour (promoting his own album) and have Tamar as the opening act (promoting her album) hmmm Everyone would have been happy, including Universal.

Let me be more specific. Universal tried 2 gangster Prince by telling him that they would NOT support a tour but they would support him performing in Vegas at their hotel. Prince was pissed and told Unversal 2 kiss his ***. Univeral in turn told Prince that they would not be supporting the Tamar project.

Prince then struck his own deal in Vegas and that is how u got the Rio stint in Vegas.
