where's is the Time album and what have taken them so long....then?... I have no doubt they can drop a kickass album, believe me I'm waiting, I believe in their true talents, but they have not. So I'm not sure what why you feel people are being ignorant when there is nothing to back up your claims either. Everyone has their own opinion just like you have yours but with not knowing the facts as to what the problem is its all guessing on both parts. [Edited 2/8/11 10:26am]

Too bad they didn't sell any merchandise and have a signing session when I saw them in January. 'Cause I sure would've asked why they haven't dropped a new album yet! "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

C'mon. Prince can't even make a decent Prince album today. No one is saying the the men "CAN'T" make a Time album, people are just skeptical they can make a decent Time album with or without Prince. And regardless, good or bad or in between, everyone here on the org will buy whatever they release anyhow, the question is moot. We are "IN" no matter what it sounds like, no matter the name. It's the rest of the world outside Prince.org that matters at this point. Whether the name means that much in regards to marketing outside the hardcore fans is debatable, but the album will stand or fail on it's own regardless of name. If they have an album ready they just need to release the thing already.

I probably would ask them the same thing. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Morris shouldn't have left back in '85, Jimmy and Terry shouldn't have been defiant back in '85. They knew Prince was buttering they bread back then, but they wanted to cash in on Purple Rain. God bless them for trying, but the price they paid is that they pissed Prince off and now they want to release an album and they bitchin about it? Girl I hate to say this.... Nigga pleeeeease!
Go off on your own, Morris. Just like u did in '85. Remaster "Fishnet" or "Color of Success"-- it was good enough for u back then, why isn't good enough 4 u now? Jimmy , Terry, call Janet and ask her if she's down to make "Control 2". I mean what is the big fucking deal about releasing an album with "The Time" on the cover. Don't nobody give a shit about that anymore. Release it under the name, Morris Day and the Oak Tree. That'll sell records. Unless Prince owns the name Morris Day.
ONe too many merlots. I shouldn't be this worked up about a bunch of 50 year old black men releasing an album. I wish u heaven

I don't understand why we are talking about a new "The Time" Album, there will be no NEW ALBUM , unofficially words from some members of the group seem to confirm this FACT!!

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense.

Can you do us a favor.....if you know any of the guys personally, could you invite them to come to this thread and clear up a few things? I'm tired of "unofficial comments",rumors and hearsay. If what you say is true, let's hear it from the horse's mouth.

So,you're saying that Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis should have just kept quiet, continued to hide their real talents (writing and producing) and not follow their own dreams? Being "defiant" allowed them to become the hottest production duo of the 80s/90s.

I've made the invitation...............but no response so far.

They should just change "the time" to an unpronouncable symbol...the obvious choice being a stylized clock. To drive the point home put the hands at ten and two.

I mean that they didn't do it in the right way. From what I understand they skipped out on a tour to work with Janet. They should have finished and then took some, er, "time" off to work on solo projects. People in bands do it all the time. But imagine booking a tour with a band and two members skip out mid tour. That's not professional. I wish u heaven

No,what happened was.....during the '1999' tour, they took a few days off to work with the SOS Band in Atlanta. They got snowed in and had to miss a gig.Prince fired them.To me,that was an overreaction. It's clear that Prince simply didn't want them to do their own thing.

Call it fate, that was the best firing in music history based on what it led to.

exactly. | |

I don't blame Jam & Lewis one bit for moonlighting. They had released two Time albums already on which they didn't play a note. They were being stifled.
I wonder if they had made the show and not been fired, would The Time still have broken up in 1984?

The Time was never really a real band on record. Prince did mostly everything. The Time never really even reached there full potential as a band. Because when Purple Rain was released there name became worldwide known. But the band was already broken up when the movie came out & didn't really have the real true original members in it anyway. To think how big they could have became if they were apart of The Purple Rain tour. I can understand Prince's hesitation. Morris Day threw Prince under the bus many times after he left The Time. Jesse johnson said some horrible things about him to.Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis was working on projects behind his back while in the group.
This is Prince legacy. i can tell he is now wanting credit for what he created & started. Prince was the sole creator of the whole project and will soon own all the masters of The Time. They are really his albums anyway. the only thing I can see them doing is change the name. Morris Day & The Time would not be a good name because it would down play the success of the other members who are way more talented in there own right. I think the key in everything Prince is waiting to get full control over all the masters before he greenlights anything with The Family or The Time so he can profit from it solely. Its his music and he deserves to do wIth it what he wants. I don't blame him.
When I saw The Time(The original ones) perform live in Vegas a few years ago. It was mind boggling watching how much talent was in that gruop. it was just too much talent to keep clammed up in one group. U can't argue with destiny. To me it all worked out for them individually. There would be no Janet Jackson without JJ &TL. Jesse Johnson & Morris Day had major success to on there own and they owe Prince for that whether they want to admit it or not.. [Edited 2/11/11 17:54pm] will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P.
