DO YOU THINK THIS DEBUTANTE WOULD'VE MADE A GREAT PRINCE PROTEGE IN THE 80'S?

Back In the late 80's, do you think Jody Watley would've made a great Prince protege. She was certainly hot, mysterious and had those beautiful cat eyes. If she would've worked with Prince during the Sign O' The Times era, there would have never been a Prince/Cat relationship. She would've gave Cat a run for her dollar.

Jody Watley is super fierce and talented

I'd love to see them collaborate on a song or a few but I'm glad she was never a protege and considered his "product".

Jody had too much talent to be a Prince protege.

*Prince was trying so hard to "cross over" that a voice like Jody's wouldn't have fit into his mold.

Shalamar did a little bit of crossover with "Dead Giveaway" on their "Look" album around 1983. It has a touch of new wave pop.

deb·u·tante - "a young woman making her formal entrance into society."

Jody was decade into her amazing music career by the late 80s (Shalamar, solo) and well over a decade in entertainment (featured dancer on Soul Train since her teens).

Her 1st solo album was a "F___ You" to the people used to control her career and didn't believe in her talent during the Shalamar era. Definitely didn't need to be anybody's protegee.

No need. She and 'Dre out-purpled Prince on my favorite track of hers.

To actually answer the question...yes, she would have made a great Prince protege. It's irrelevant that she didn't need to be one. She would have fit right into what he was all about around the SOTT/Lovesexy/GB days...would have been cool to see them work together. I always liked her! She was definately pretty enough to be one of Prince's women. Her and Andre were a gorgeous couple...I'm actually surprised she didn't work with Prince since she was married to his best friend...?

Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol

This woman is fucking stunning!. I heart her....Solange Knowles kinda reminds me of her..looks wise and they have a similar way of speaking.

Yea I could definately see her in the Cat role during Lovesexy/SOTT... She used to be a Soul Train dancer right?..but I'm glad she forged her own career....we all know how Prince and his protegess work...hell most people aside from hardcore fans dont even know who they are..and for folks like Jill Jones who I think had all the makings to really be a huge star..that's a shame.

No. It would have destroyed her career.
