Bobby Z's Drum Kit Revealed! I had the opportunity to ask Bobby Z a few questions on the internet.
I am a drummer and for years have been fascinated with his drum kits throughout the years, especially his infamous 1999/Purple Rain-era drum kit!
My main question to him was based around the 4 mounted "tom-tom" like drums in front of the kit (time and tech knowledge revealed to me years earlier that the rest of the kit was a Simmons/Linn LM-1 conglomeration).
So I asked him...and he simply replied: "Pearl Syncussion".
COMPLETE!
So, from the man himself (and now, also Wikipedia...not updated by me), the kit is as follows:
Drum Kit: Black Simmons SDSV, Simmons SDSV Module, Linn LM-1 Drum Machine, Black Pearl Syncussion(x2), Pearl Syncussion Module(x2), 14" HiHat, 18" Crash, 20" Ride, 16" Crash
I hope this helps anyone that always wanted to know the information.

Good stuff paybak69. You might also be interested reading this archived topic of drummer Michael Bland visiting and posting on the org : http://prince.org/msg/5/192408 There are more of those topics, but i can't find them right now.

Real nice. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Paybak69,
Since you're a drummer, How hard do you funk up the drums?

Yep, I am a drummer. I try to funk it up as hard I can funk it. I've studied Prince, P-Funk, Sly Stone, and all that. Funk is my favorite style to play, for sure! I can do rock and other styles, but funk permeates through me! Can't get enough of the funk!
