"Sooner Or Later" by Larry Graham

Larry hadn't completely converted to a balladeer when he went solo. This one was a jam back in 1982.

Anybody into this one?

It is the strangest thing. Every time I hear LG's name, I feel like I just took a laxative.

One of my favorite songs from him. I knew his son Dereck (we played football together and I saw him around town) and he was so happy to finally get credits on one of his Dad's albums for singing backup on this song and I think one more.

It's a good song to listen to but could you imagine if Larry Graham put this song into his setlist. I could just imagine Prince playing the synthesizer and singing the backup parts, lol. But in all honesty, it's interesting to see how different Prince and LG's music was in 1982. LG's music was really a paint by number electro-funk song where 1999 was more experimental and and innovative. Just thankful Prince didn't meet LG until 1997 instead of 1982. No telling how 1999 and PR would have sounded.

i think, with this album,Larry was trying to show that he could still get funky lol His two previous album featured ballads as the singles ("One In A Million","Just Be My Lady") but with the 'Sooner Or Later' album,he released two funky uptempo songs as the singles.Remember the first single?

"Don't Stop, When You're Hot"....Oh hell yeah, I remember that one well. That's why I never stop because I'm hot all the damn time!
