the imagination seems funny, to see Mayte dancing while Mani and Eric watching her.

Is that true, that Mayte and Mani are friends or just rumor? Can't believe that.

What religion is Mayte actually? Is Mani still a JW and is Eric JW too?

Dancing helps relieve the pain. Soothes your mind, makes you happy again!!!

Mani was an assistant to Prince and may have very well assisted and had dealings with Mayte during happier times in their marriage as well. Those two may have had long private conversations and we don't know what exchanges were made in private. Seems like the hachet is buried and forgotten.

Who knows, it seems like Mani was there to support Mayte and the two are comfortable enough to be in each other's company. Good for them! biggrin

And what exactly do you mean by this statement?

Mayte is Puerto Rican.

Mani is Egyptian and Italian; (not exactly "black"... since I have recently learned that the French dominated north AFrica... [thanks Malbena])

But, if you want to classify both of these ex wives as "black", then here is an interesting perspective... there is no "white" ex-wives club... cause there were no "white" wives.

wink

Well there is no "black" or "white" first wives club and second of all Mani nor Mayte are African American (the more appropriate term by the way)...so not sure where you got this "black first wives" club nonsense from.

beatdeadhorse Aw geez, here ya'll go with this mess! Egypt is in Africa! Mani's mother coulld be classified as African, and she most certainly looks like a black woman; consequently, I would classify Mani as an "African-American." Now, what she chooses to identify with, I have no idea, nor do I care. Just sayin...

It all depends on if you're talking about her race or culture. Egyptians are Arab (an ethnicity of its own). Some are darker skin like Mani's mother and others lighter skin (see my picture profile). Egypt is indeed located in the African continent such as Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Lybia but North Africa is also part of the Arab World (being North Africa and the Middle-East). I am just trying to explain as I'm Arabic. Being North African, I've always felt welcomed in the Black community here in Minneapolis biggrin Maybe the same reason why some would see Mani (who's mixed actually) as a black woman as well.

And you and I could be sisters, as I looked like you when I was younger and had the hair. I'm older now and wear my hair cut very short. People look at me and think I'm mixed, Egyptian, Arabic, whatever, but I identify with black.

agree with Malbena. Africa is a continent... vs a country. It is like calling someone European American vs German American, or Italian American. Africa is a large continent... and encompasses many ethnicities and cultures. I think Egypt is more Arab and middle East than the commonly referred African who are mostly from Nigeria, Liberia, Kenya, etc. Mani's mom does have a darker skin tone but her hair is silky straight like Indians or Middle East... and her features also look more from middle East rather than the people of the interior regions of Africa.

Mani could be classified as "African American" so can this woman...

And Africa is a continent...rolleyes Just because Egypt is in Africa doesn't mean that a person should automatically identified as "African-American"..nor just because a women "looks like a black woman" that a person could classify them as "African-American"..that's silly and close minded. IMO.

Except for I think Mani is from Canada, which negates the "American" part. lol

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Dita Von Teese once walked right up to Prince at a club my friend's local band was performing at in LA and kissed him (it might have been on the cheek). They were friendly to each other.

Mani could be classified as "African American" so can this woman...

1. Charlize theron would be South African American maybe even Afrikan American if she is dutch.

2. Yes yes yes Egypt and all of north african is in "Africa" just as Spain and France are in Europe.

3. yes modern egyptians are mostly middle eastern. But like America if you go back 1000 years you would find totally different people.

4. All black people (or white people born in africa)in America aren't african american. Lauryn Hill is Hatian American, Ziggy Marley is Jamaican American and Tunde Adebimpe of TV on the radio is nigerian american.

5.African American refers to people who descend from Africans who first came to this country starting from pre-colonial times up to the end of the slave trade. It refers to a people who cannot trace their entire hertige back to one country or even one continent.
