Since we have discussed most of the other songs from the Vanity 6 album,I think it is only fitting that we discuss the one real hit from the album,the funky "Nasty Girl".This song is GREAT! It's totally agressive and "in your face".Vanity lets you know that she is for real,and she expects the man to deliver the goods too ("I need seven inches or more",she demands).And,she's not afraid to diss the man when he doesn't live up to her expectations ("Is that it? she asks,then instructs the man to "wake me when you're done!").It's all crazy and outrageous,but alot of fun too.The groove is funky and the song became a huge dance hit.

the song is the absolute bomb, but the video...i haven't seen it since i wuz about 9 or 10...

That's the best Damn song Prince ever wrote. I love that song. Prince's lyrics are so Cool.

Well,it's Pure Fluff. Not Monumental but really Cool dance song and I am digging his Glamourous Life also. What he wrote for his Girl Groups the songs were so Down. Just really kicking.

"Nasty Girl"---it shows the three girls performing the song in a studio.Their moves are kinda stiff.They're wearing nice evening dresses,but during the song's break (the moaning part),they disappear and then return wearing the slinky lingerie outfits that they are known for (Susan has on her camisole).Now that they're dressed more seductively,Vanity really lossens up and dances more aggressively.

"Drive Me Wild"---this video uses the long 12" version of the song,whcih is much funkier than the "cold" sounding album version.It shows Susan asleep,then her girls Vanity and Brenda wake her up,and take her to some wild party.The three girls are then shown performing the song.Interestingly,all three of them have microphones although Susan is the only one who sings (and there are no background vocals whatsoever).We then see the three of them at the party,dancing and acting crazy with a bunch of people,including Prince's bodyguard "Big Chick".


There is also a video for "He's So Dull" but I've never seen it.

Vanity 6 and Apollonia 6 are just fantastic!

I read a weird article someplace about how the Vanity 6 album is the prototype for the current craze of Electroclash. The weird robotic pulsing synths, the filthy lyrics and the flat talking/singing vocal delivery.

They really did look like scary hookers didn't they? By comparison, Christina Aguilera looks like a little kid playing dress-up in her mommy's clothes.

Vanity was going to marry Nicki Sixx of Motley Crue at one point - so her name would have been Vanity Sixx! Odd that Mayte should be dating another Motley Crue member now...

And if she marries Tommy Lee her name will be Mayte Lee or MIGHTY LEE. That's Funny also. Do they plan it that way? Probably!
