It was all about the (truest of the truest) Funk.

As luck would have it, I got me a copy of their debut on cassette. What the hell was that front cover all about? Anyways, it wasn't a bad effort and the songs were pretty cool. They do have their weak moments though, like their silly lyrics and stuff. 100 MPH sounds kinda like Prince's later work, right?
Strawberry Lover sounds like a Van Halen ripoff, She's Just that Kinda Lady could've worked better for The Family and Suzy has a pretty heavy topic. But all & all, it was one of the best Paisley Park releases. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

They really are just doing songs Prince did not have the time or desire to do. They are talented and put on a good show, but the material is Prince. If you Prince doing "100Mph" or Mazarati doing "Kiss" you'll see why they got signed.

100mph was the ONLY song Prince had anything to do with and in my opinion, it was nowhere close to the best song on the album. Seems like ya'll think Prince writes everything that comes out of MN.

They sound amazingly like Prince/Time so it was a no-brainer that they got signed. Other's had influences on them but Prince definitely was a big contributor. Did you hear their second LP? No Prince + no songs = no future.

Regardless to what you HERAD, Mazarati was a BROWNMARK project, not a Prince project. Aside from the image thing and 100 mph, Prince didn't want much to do with them. BROWNMARK was running the show. My information is accurate. Its from the source. Also, the second CD had a different lead singer. Terry left the project. The 2nd CD took to long and was released under contractual obligation. There was a lot of band crap going on. Again with this "all credit to Prince" crap. PRINCE ONLY WROTE ONE SONG FOR THEM. ONE. You need to give Mark Brown his props and stop frontin'. I didn't mean to down play Brown Marks involment. But it is obvious that with out Prince's royal seal of approval (especial during that time in music) it was doomed.
I love the first album but the second just isn't there.

Let's face it. Most acts on Paisley Park were approved by Prince whether he contributed to the albums or not. He was the boss at Paisley Park and even if he want in the studio with Mazarati, it is obvious they took almost all there cues from him - onstage on on wax. And 100 MPH probably is the best tune on that album believe it or not.

OK, so exactly how much hand did Prince have in this production? Did he just contribute 100 MPH or did he make puppets out of Sir Casey & co.? NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

Don't forget the time period they were big. Big hair and glam where in. Prince know's glam. Prince put HIS signature look on them. They LOOKED like an extention of the Revolution. The SOUND, however was all Mark Brown. Give credit where its due.

However, it does includes some unreleased tracks that are actually better than anything on the 2nd album.A couple of the unreleased tracks include funky versions of "Come Together" & "Satisfaction"
