Drive Me Wild guitar solo I just got done listening to Vanity 6s 1982 song Drive Me Wild and I want to know who did that wonderful spectacular guitar solo to that song? I always thought it was one of the guitar players from The Time some say it was Prince and some say Dez but I was just wondering if anybody knew esp since the most of the credits on the Vanity 6 album are ficitional(so ive heard). So yeah does anyone know who it is? oh and please forgive my igorance on these things

I reckon it's Prince. It's got the same vibe as the solo in "Automatic"... Toejam @ Peach & Black Podcast: http://peachandblack.podbean.com

prince plays eveything on the v6 and a6 albums, just like the early time albums, although those had morris on drums. morris could play drums on some of it, but the guitar is prince. you should checkout the 12" version as it's got a longer guitar break. the video version is longer than the album version, but shorter than the 12"

I don't know it could be Dez or maybe Jesse...who knows...

It's fairly well documented that P played ALL parts of the V6 album, but there were a few cases of people in Princes circle not getting credit on albums, so a Dez solo isn't out of the realm of possibilities.
However, my ears say Prince not Dez. "Prince doesn't have verbal diarrhea, he has studio diarrhea...." Allen Leeds

Didn't both Jesse and Dez compose a song a piece for that album. If I'm not mistaken, "Bite the Beat" is Jesse's and "He's So Dull" was written by Dez. Did they not play on those tracks?
