If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

In terms of what I've heard, this is easily the closest Morris Day has ever come to recapturing the genius of the Time sound, without Prince. The song is very very well done. Too bad the album got scrapped. I didn't know Chuckii Booker could bring it like that.

Agreed. It's a lame assumption that Morris' constantly wanted to recapture some old sound as a solo artist. He's a musician, and has his own ideas in music when he's done albums. And this song is firmly rooted in the 90's as far as production and arrangement. Sounds like a remix from Rhythm Nation or something. But you're right....it's nowhere near The Time, nor should be.

Lets face it - I love Morris but his first 2 solo records (the second of which was a bit a Time reunion on some tracks) were the only good material he released outside the Time. Jesse Johnson has done much better for himself as a solo composer and musician.

^I dont think anyone is trying to say otherwise.

he only released 3 full solo albums with original material anyways.

That was a hot track. It definitely has that Minneapolis sound to it. Chuckii is very talented. Too bad it wasn't released.

This song kinda reminds me of "Get it up", but a more polished version. Also having Chuckii Booker produced this song was an excellent choice. His first two, and only two, solo joints capture the Minneapolis sound. He has a song on his first album called "That's my honey" that sounds like "Lady Cab Driver" meets "AnotherloverlikeUneedaHoinyoHead"...it's a very funky song...something Prince could have easily put out.

Chuckii produced or not, this ish is slammin'. There actually is a finished version of this with more rhythm guitars in it which was on youtube but it got pulled. Rumor was that Morris and Chuckii's wives wanted them to just do a jam session and have some fun. It sounded like it smile There was no project or anything involved, it was just merely clowning and having some fun. Dee it for what it is people.. just having fun. I think it's real cool. Just because Prince or Jimmy Jam didnt do it doesnt mean it ain't funky. That ish is real funky.

Quit hatin'

Sounds a lot like Chuckii's solo stuff, which by the way, was the most underrated R&B EVER.

Chuckii Booker had the Minneapolis sound DOWN back then.

Oh HELL YES.

"That's My Honey" is the JAM, no doubt. Killer Bass.
