Moderating the panel was WIF board member Lisa Gewirtz. The round-table discussion addressed the challenges facing female composers in the male-dominated film and television music world. As Melvoin put it, "Unfortunately as women composers we have to work twice as hard to achieve our goals." But the panelists also encouraged the audience members in the pursuit of their craft. Muddiman reminded everyone that forming and maintaining strong networks is essential for women in the industry, saying "It's important that as women we stand together and help each other to realize our dreams." When asked about the secrets of their success in the industry, Wendy and Lisa suggested "Be prepared, know your lines, believe in yourself, and never give up." | |
