Sex Shooter Appolonia Vs. Vanity I have listened to both..and in my opinion, Vanity's original version is sexier and has more of an edge, allthough it is missing sound quality..Vanity woulda did a great job in P.R. what do you think? the song its self is pretty cool...Vanity's version has more Flavor..More chemistry between her and Prince...U can tell back then it was obvious..

i like the Apollonia6 version. The vanity version sounds like a demo. And I Always found Apollonia prettier. These days,both of them havent aged too good. Apollonia got a bad face lift and Vanity looks like my grandma. | |

The Vanity 6 version is raw and sexy.
The Apollonia 6 version is polished sexiness. Both great in their own ways. Neither of them were great vocal talents but they were great at what they did. When  go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all  up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming! | |

I prefer the Vanity version of "Sex Shooter".It's funkier and much more raw.Vanity was always much more convincing in the "nasty girl" role.Apollonia was just playing a part,and it didn't feel genuine.When she screeches "I can't heaaarrrr yooouuuuu" at the end of the song,I can't help but cringe  The Apollonia 6 version of "Sex Shooter" is glossy pop,which is fine,but the earlier version is pure funk,nasty and sleazy.
Plus,the Vanity version features the fun,chant-like verse at the end... New York? Uh huh! I want you to count to 8 (eight!) As soon as I get undressed,y'all clap your hands,okay? I love it It's a shame that we never got a second Vanity 6 album.I bet it would have been more outrageous than the first one. | |

Nothing against Apollonia, but she had less talent and less originality than Vanity. I'm not saying Vanity was a good singer, but she could sound ok with the right track. Apollonia-no lol. I also got the impression that Vanity was better at improv and interpretation while Apollonia would follow what she was told to do exactly and wouldn't bring anything extra to the table. and both were beautiful women-but Vanity had that 1-in-a-million look that so many others throughout the 80's imitated. Prince very rarely discovered an unknown vocal talent. He created an image with music, clothes and sexuality that worked on all levels when it came to pushing his artists. Vanity & Apollonia both were perfect examples of that. If he really wanted a voice in Vanity 6 or Apollonia 6 then Jill jones was his best choice at that particular point in time. She definitely had the better voice but he overlooked pushing that talent until her debut CD. He knew what he had but chose not to utilize it fully. He could have swapped Vanity for Jill and let Vanity have her moment on 1999 and gave Jill the album and the group. The bottom line is it worked and the evidence is there when you play 'Nasty Girl' or 'Sex Shooter' at a party. I like Apples's better simply because it clearer and has more effect and the background harmonies are TIGHT. Although the Vanity version is more funkier. I am dying laughing at jonhart saying if dookie were vocal chords referring to Vanity. Neither girl could sing. Even Lisa stated that Appollonia couldn't sing so she (Lisa) had to sing along on "Take Me With U". I always knew Lisa's voice was on that. | |
