Brownmark Talks About MJ From this blog:
Michael Jackson November 23rd, 2009 BrownMark: I posted a few comments the other day on Facebook about Michael Jackson and the thread kept growing and growing. I realized many of us were deeply influenced by the Jackson 5 or perhaps just Michael, from as far back as our childhood. I had my own experience with Michael I would like to share with you and I would like to read about your experiences or about the impact he had on your life. I was working in a studio in Hollywood California on a project for a major label. My Engineer John Chopper Black was good friends with Michael Jacksons Engineer. It all started when I pulled into the secure parking lot at the rear of the studio in the early afternoon. I was sitting in my car listening to the song I was mixing in the studio. This was a common practice back then because all studios had their own sound and I would check my levels in my car because I knew my car stereo sound very well. As I was listening, a beat up pick up truck pulls in beside me. I did not think any thing of it at first but then at a second glance I said to myself, ‘that looks just like Michael Jackson.’ This was just before the Thriller LP was to be released. He was wearing a red checkered farmers shirt with a black farmers cap. When he stepped out of the truck I noticed he had on some high water jeans, white sock and black loafers. The give away was distinct features in his face even though he was wearing these huge sun glasses. Face down, hat tilted closely to his glasses he entered the studio. I was a bit overwhelmed at the time because he had such an impact on my life coarse in the music industry. I jumped out of the car and went in the building but he had disappeared. I was working in Studio B and Michael was in Studio A. They were working on the new Harrison digital mixing board which I always wanted to work on so I asked my Engineer could we go check it out. He told me Michael was over there with Bill his Engineer friend from Minneapolis. I was like okay, I want to meet Michael too! So he took me over to studio A and Michael was sitting in the corner keeping to himself. Chopper introduced me to Bill and then Michael came over and introduced himself to me and we shook hands. Evidently he was fond of the work we (Prince & The Revolution) were doing in the industry. He was very soft spoken and very kind. His personality stood out as that of a very loving person with a lot of morals. We chat for a few minutes and then we let them get back to work. Of course I didn’t want to look like a groupie! What Impact did Michael Jackson and or The Jackson 5 Have on your life? | |
