Normally I steer clear from threads like these because it turns out like this one but I had to state my opinion.

The pure fact that this is plastered on the home page as big as life like this was wendyandlisa.org speaks volumes about the positive bias toward the Girl Bros. that exists on this site.

Questions:

How many top 20 albums did W&L have?
How many top 10 songs did W&L have?
How many concerts have they sold out ?

When they start doing that lets argue about W&L vs. Prince .

Right now their body of work is the number of jingles they have wrote for tv shows vs a Hall of Fame career.

Is it time for a name change for this site?

The point is that is NOT about Prince vs. W&L, but the pissers on here have to make it about that. Their video is nothing about Prince, doesn't reference Prince directly or even indirectly that I could see. It's not a fucking pissing match.. A number of jingles? Are you on crack or what? That's the dumbest fucking statement. They've scored movies and shows and are still doing so. Prince can barely be trusted to make a fucking commercial for a bullshit album with more glitz and flair than actual content. No one is asking the purple midget genius to write a theme for a television series, or a movie. Oh right, he did Batman, and that was just songs, not even the score.

How much has Prince fucked over his fans? I bet you still think you got your $77 worth by getting the album a few days early on Lotusflow3r.com, watching a bunch of flash videos, and strutting around town in your t-shirt, huh? Fool.

I got a chance to see the video as I know the song hearing it on the album. Finally!!!

First, congrats to all of the people in the video and those who had the courage to send in video of themselves for the contest. YOU ALL deserve kudos for it. I didnt send one cause of me not having a video camera and Im too dam shy to even show me face on picture camera. Ok enough about me not doing it.

Second, I would love to see more of the girls in it but seeing how this was a fan apprieciation video I can understand. It looked like all was having much fun in the mash up they did.

Im so glad Wendy and Lisa is interactive with their fanbase and fans. It makes me feel good that some artist do CARE about fans period.

Lastly, loved the song before the video. I like a variety of music and this will stay in my rotation of favorites for awhile

I know the way Prince irritates people on here (And elsewhere!) that he is a money grabber-has no respect etc. However there is a big difference between P and W&L. firstly and not to be too cynical W&L have to be nicer to their fans. Part of the joy of having a favourite artist is to simply observe and enjoy what they have to offer. That comes at a financial price, which I am willing to pay (ignore the website thing) and in the main offers me a lot of happiness for my cash

First - purely on an economic level, they really don't. It is an epic pain in the ass to release an indie album, and the industry is filled with extremely talented, critically acclaimed musicians who go broke trying to do it. As a fan, I am grateful EVERY DAY that Wendy & Lisa took time out from their extremely busy day jobs (which I am sure is what's paying the bills) to write and record this album and play a few shows. Trust me - they can't be doing it for the money, if that's what you're implying. (And their day jobs probably couldn't care less if they have a fan base or not. Second - you can't fake this. When Wendy and Lisa take the time to chat during their internet radio shows, they are funny, genuine, smart and warm. And - this isn't new. Almost since there was an internet to play on Wendy & Lisa were out there trying to keep in touch. They were immensely supportive of the early fan sites - when I was watching Ben & co get sued ten years ago, their lovely manager was giving the fans free MP3s, supporting the fan sites, setting up their own nascent site, hanging out with us on chat, and generally being an actual nice person.

And trust me - it's not that the Wendy & Lisa fans were 'asskissers' that got us the treatment. I was cranky then, I'm cranky now, and that's not gonna change. And yet - even when we gave bad reviews, or talked smack about one of their albums ( ::whisles:: ) - which we did - they were extremely supportive. They've never wanted yes men, they've never wanted cheerleaders, and they've never wanted 'fams'.

So, all that to say - I hear you. But your point doesn't hold up to scrutiny - between the overall arc of the music business, and the actuality of how they'v handled themselves with fans over the years, I simply can't be that cynical about it. (And lord knows . . . I can be cynical with the best of them!)
