This is GSHARP...Set your mind at ease...I toured with Prince as his opening act on the D&P Tour with Carmen Electra in MY band...That band included my best friend, Morris Hayes who came to Mpls. at my request to help me whip Mazarati into shape! (that's right, I was in that band too on the second album; I sang half of the songs) Morris and I also produced Margie Cox's single, "Standing At the Altar" along with Prince...Also had you been a REAL Prince fan, you would know that I'm one of the few people who doesn't need "clearance' to hang out with Prince! LOL Also, out of all of the people on this reunion show, I'm one of maybe 3 who has won a Grammy...Not an AMA, not a Minneapolis Music Award, but a Grammy...With that said, come to the show, and prepare for me to show you why whenever Prince jams, he calls ME to the stage... I'm the Greatest...I'm Pretty...I don't have a mark on my face, I SHOOK UP THE WORLD!!! I MUST be the Greatest! I'm so good, I might take up collection in the middle of the show! Who Is GSHARP???

Welcome to the Org GSHARP01, and thanks for sharing your memories and stories. Wishing you and all the cats a great time on the upcoming jam ! One thing i'm interested to know is, did Mazarati's second album had an actual official distribution-release ? I've seen quite some vinyl copies of the 2 singles, "Saga Of A Man" & "Woman Thang", but the original copies of the album (LP and CD) rarely appeared for sale online at eBay. Were those album-pressings briefly released and shelved shortly after ? ... or did only a number of copies reach some shops and therefor a few rare copies appeared for sale occasionally ? And were the album copies exclusively manufactured/distributed by the Motown-department in Canada ?
Thanks for your time & funk on ! *spell-edit* [Edited 5/12/09 14:15pm]

I'm sure Greg can clarify anything to do with the "Mazarati II" album, but it's only Canadian copies that "leaked" out. Are you on the back sleeve of the album, Greg? I have a copy of the album but it's in storage at the moment. Furthermore, are you aware of the amount of bootleg copies of that album on eBay? It's pretty shocking...

When it said "several VERY special surprise guests" would be there, it made me wonder if Prince would make a surprise appearance? I probably am just getting my hopes up for nothing. Even if Prince DID say he was going to be there, who's to say he wouldn't change his mind at the very last minute? Not trying to crush your hopes, but I wouldn't expect him there at all. They said "very special guests" last year and he wasn't there. Nothing against Princey Poo but I didn't miss him, because it was a great performance! B-Sharp stole the show. He sang lead most of the night and amazed me with his cover of 'The Beautiful Ones' and 'DMSR'. I probably have to be in FL, but will try to be there this year. (Have fun Megan from D'Amico EP ! Hope to see you there- Xtian) A note to the bands: please sell some live CD's, I love them- esp a CD of last year's show! This sounds like it's gonna be a killer show! Cantbelieve Mazarati is gonna perform! Cool! I was lucky enough to see them live in 86 and it was a great show and both Prince and Sheila were in attendance lurking in the shadows
Also for all those hoping P will show - stop wishin it won't happen The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

why even entertain that Prince will be there? Look at all the great musicians that are coming. Just enjoy that - or don't show up. No one needs an audience looking past the band on stage to see if Prince has shown up. Jeeeez.

that's my great frustration with this event. every year they try to hype it up with a playful little hint that prince might appear, and they really don't need to do that. in my opinion, it's an insult to the great musicians that any diehard prince fan would go bananas to see play the classics. you think prince is gonna play "head" these days? you think they'd have the nerve to play it at the family reunion jam if he showed up? there was such a strong vibe of history at last year's show, it's something you oddly don't get at a "real" prince concert. it's not just being able to hear the "naughty" songs again, but being able to hear the great band members from over the years and enjoy what they brought to those classic songs to make them great. "alexander nevermind" can just stay at home on this occasion for all i care.
