Clare Fischers Works. Hey, I just went to Amazon MP3 downloads and listened to some of his work and am starting to wonder how much credit Prince deserves for his Parade era. Including Eric Leeds Cds and the Madhouse Lps. Wendy & Lisa were a big factor when they left and now I hear how much of Clare is apart of his sound too..
Ever since then you have to admit Princes work has been spotty on the creative side.He tried to hide it with going the NPG direction with all that pseudo Hip-hop and funk. I Think his best moments (creatively)since then have only been Emancipation disc 2, and One nite alone. He fell short on the Truth & KarmaSutra. We all want a big hit again because
we want to relive the Hysteria & Pandemonium we experienced when Purple Rain was Hot. Actually, he doesn't care if it happens again or not.

I'm not sure what you're getting at, but Clare Fischer and Prince have never worked together in a creative session. Prince sent tapes to Clare and Clare sent scores back to Prince. Prince edited Clare's work and used what he thought fit the songs. Prince had complete control over the final product. Basically, P used Clare's tapes as an orchestral stock-music library. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Clare Fisher's work is a substantive part of some of Prince's songs, as are some of Wendy & Lisa's ideas or arrangements. But, these threads always seem to devolve into accusations that because someoe states that a musician other than Prince played an important role in this or that song, it's an insult to Prince (it's not). This is usually met with backlash against the associated artist, who is brushed aside and defined as insignifcant in the larger context. But, the fact is that Prince has made incredible music by himself, and incredible music with others.

I even heard or read once that Prince and Clare Fischer have never met!

I even heard or read once that Prince and Clare Fischer have never met! That's my understanding, too. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Apparently because the collaboration has worked fine so far without ever meeting in person, and Prince wants/likes to keep it like that... Did I hear this in an interview with Clare Fischer and his son..!? Can't remember...

Did I hear this in an interview with Clare Fischer and his son..!? Can't remember... From http://www.thebottomend.c...rtists.php On hooking up with Prince: For me, it has been your work with Prince that is the highlight of your pop collaborations. How did you first get connected with Prince?
Clare Fischer: Someone who is a jazz fan and working with Prince at the time, suggested my name to him when he was looking for a string arranger. Seymour Nurse: Your first film credit was for the Prince movie, "Under The Cherry Moon", and an interpretaion of one of your arrangements was used in the first "Batman" movie, where Prince did the Soundtrack. You have also worked with him on the albums, "Parade", "Graffiti Bridge", O (+>, "Crystal Ball", and several singles ("Goodbye", "The One", "Te Amo Corazon" etc...) How was your experience working with such a genius? Clare Fischer: Prince is indeed a smart man. He sends me what he has recorded, and I add on my orchestra. He may occasionally give me a suggestion of some kind at the beginning of a project, but mostly leaves it up to me. From http://www.artistintervie...ent_id=22/ On Prince and Clare's strange relationship: On the other hand, his collaboration with singer Prince was pleasant and fruitful. The somewhat odd couple joined forces on more than forty pieces. “Prince is intelligent. He never visits the studio when I am working for him; and I have never met him in person. He sends me memos and we talk over the phone. Once I sent him my “2+2″ Grammy winning CD. I heard from people that were present at the time that while he took out the disc he looked away from the cover, saying, ‘I don’t want to know what he looks like. It is working just fine as it is.’ Prince does not want to meet me because he knows that the minute he walks into a studio he will start interfering. It is uncommon that a person with such a strong ego realizes that I have an ego too,” said Fischer. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.
