Little button noses are not really what I would consider to be the most attractive either.

And ya, I think her nose is huge - but she looks great to me and absolutely way above average in terms of her looks.

Well, beauty is always difficult to talk about but I definitely think that she's gorgeous too. But I do think she was more average looking a couple of years ago, before she got her make-over. Like zoe I see women like that all the time. That doesn't mean that she was unattractive before, she was also then a very good looking woman.

Lawd have mercy....what difference does it make? Beauty eventually ages, and becomes like a wilted flower.

When I want to buy an artist's music my decision is not based on their physical appearance, but their talent and if they can be that good, that I wouldn't hesitate for a second to buy their music. Just like back in the day when real music was on the surface, and you couldn't wait to hear the song on the radio or run out to the record store to buy an artist's record that touched your soul or blew your mind. If you can do that, then who cares about how you look?

I think those who are pathetically obsessed with an artist's physical appearance and possibly base their decision on whether that artist has bigger tits than their mother or how round their ass is, is what's wrong with the music industry today, because so many fall for the BS of the music industry, where they put out manufactured BS like Britney Spears and Cassie, and if you're not an artist (especially females) who is not displayed in "spread eagle" form across the cd booklet or shown wearing half a pair of panties on stage when performing, then real artists with real talent are ignored.

Now I have no problem with Bria's cd, as it all depends on what the individual likes, but I just find too many folks, base their decision to purchase an artist's music based on their looks. No wonder the music industry is so F*cked up and real talent is M.I.A. lol Based on the comments I've read on here, I certainly hope those of you who focus on external beauty of an artist so much, that if any of you have kids who aspire to be a singer or musician, you better start investing in lingerie, hoochie apparel, loads of makeup and put money aside for plastic surgery when the wrinkles start to show. lol

I don't agree, and this is going to be a long post, so decide if you want to read it, or it's okay if you bypass it.lol Anyway, I do agree that there have have been those that stood out because they worked hard to "stand out" and had their own unique style, and took advantage of the situation of being the only artist during their time, not doing what everyone else was doing and not sounding like everyone else, and that is why they were successful, and will always be a legend.

Today, you 1,000 Beyonce look-alikes and 5,000 Mary J's sounding the "same", nothing that stands out and takes you by storm,

Let's go back a few years, as you mentioned "Elvis", and Elvis was smart to go into black clubs and learn the moves and singing styles of black artists, and dared to be different than the usual white singers who were considered "crooners" during his time. He knew how to "shake things up" and had stage presence and could sing.

Now let's take Prince--he knew how to grab fans attention and make fans "pay attention" to his unique style of dressing and stage presence, and his skill of playing more than 17 instruments--case and point--he even went so far as having people question his gender and ethnicity--which he intertwined in his song "Controversy" asking his fans just what he had them asking, when he wrote the lyrics to that song: "Am I Black or White, Am I Gay?" Are fans not still asking those questions today! How many threads you continually see asking those very same questions? How much controversy, no pun intended has those two questions caused on unofficial fan sites? Thing is, people still want to hear Prince, and he stays in the public eye, because fans keep him there whether he has an album out or not or whether he is touring or not. Why? Because his "talent" (music and stage presence) gave them something to remember and always want more.

Now, what about all the singing groups with lead singers that were not exactly society's image of "pretty boy" and "pretty girl" that have been very successful in the past and present? I know many of the groups I grew up listening to did not fit that fake-ass image the music industry pushes today.

For MJ, who was the main pop star for several years in his career, he had girls passing out all over the world...then came "Prince" when Prince came out, he had MJ so nervous the dude went and changed his physical image completely, now if that is not having an affect on the music industry and being a threat to another artist, and being a genius at it, then you tell me what is? lol

It's all about having your own unique style, keeping fans interested. and having a over 30 year catalogue and still going strong.

Jimi Hendrix was not considered a pretty boy, but his guitar playing style, and basically being one of the only black rock musicians out at his time, among many white rock artists, made him stand out, because of his ass-kicking guitar playing.

Janis Joplin - not pretty at all, sorry to say but damn was she blowing minds with her unique style of mixing rock/blues and soul, and this was a white woman, doing this in a time when no other white female artist could sing like Janis. Janis was like black female blues singer inside of a white woman's body, that had a large following because of her "unique" style of singing.

It's about having that unique, grabbing the masses attention, stage presence, and having the talent to go along with it that keeps the audience asking for more. You can't ask for a good ham and cheese sandwich and expect tuna fish.
Talent wins in the end.

Nice but your going off base, I said Sex Appeal has and will always be a case with stars. And now even more so with the Video Era. I don't know about you but these teen girls sometime don't know about talent. Ex.Britney Spears

Deangelo video how does it feel no one is thinking about the song.

Micheal Jakson- Every young girl crush that era, some may not want to admit now but all you can hear is he so cute, sexiest man alive same goes with Elvis.

You name Janis as not good looking so were Madonna,Diana ross if they weren't stars we will say they were not good looking but all of them have Sex Appeal.

I'm reading books about female artist and raw sexuality that Tina and Janis had Debbie harry too.

Jim Morrison book said "Yeah he had talent but he know that without sex appeal it would be nothing"

And i don't think Jimi hendrix was the only non-pretty boy rocker lol He was sex on legs so is Mick Jagger

People are vain, Just think if the video era exist during the 60's-70's eek

Nope, not going off base, I was doing a comparison between "talent and looks". I'm describing how artists use their "actual talent" along with stage presence to capture audiences. Looks alone will not "guarantee" a long-lasting career.
Deny it if you will, but without the talent none of them would have made it that far. When I mentioned Jimi, I meant he was the only "black" rock guitarist with that appealed to crossover audiences at that time, among the other rockers.

Diana Ross continued to have the "glamorous" style Berry Gordy basically designed for the Supremes, and that "glamour" added to her stage presence contributed to her popularity--and became her signature style, but she also could "sing."

As far as MJ, please what's not to know about MJ making the girls swoon during teh earlier and middle point of his career? But his physical change has turned a lot of people off because he apparently sacrificed himself to please "society's idea of beauty" and what sells. Unfortunately, all the plastic surgery he's had done on his face, basically disfigured him.

You also had boy groups like New Edition and Boys to Men, where many didn't find any of these guys attractive, but they did very well for a while, because they had stage presence and "talent" It was actually their "talent" that won the young girls over.

Case and point. Physical beauty in the music industry does not guarantee a "lasting career" if that was the case, all female and male singers had to go on, then artists like Tamia, Cassie, would be fighting for the number 1 spot on the charts, no matter how lousy the songs they sing. You can take what one would consider a very beautiful model, if she doesn't have the "skill" to walk the runway right or "wear" the clothes to make someone buy it, then someone else who can "do it better" will take her place.

You and I could go back and forth and may never reach an agreement. In my opinion, an artist's looks depends on what the "individual" fan considers attractive, even if the industry itself pushes what they think will appeal to music fans in that department, but it doesn't always win fans over, but talent and stage performance is definitely a must in winning fans over, even if you may not agree with me, but it's been nice chatting with ya. biggrin

We are all vain and no one are radio stars no more. And i know ugly with talent sells i can just ask Amy winhouse yes i'm throwing shade on her. Like people always question why India arie never sells she has no appeal what so ever seeing her perform Tell me something good with prince and stevie eek Where Jill scott oh just seeing her perform with Lupe on lettermen she is a star with sex appeal. Alicia keys to me has no sex appeal, very butch like is not a threat where Beyonce who has is. All of them are talented. As far as MJ, please what's not to know about MJ making the girls swoon during earlier and middle point of his career? But his physical change has turned a lot of people off because he apparently sacrificed himself to please "society
s idea of beauty" and what sells. Unfortunately, all the plastic surgery he's had done on his face, basically disfigured him. Of course he was every girl's crush at the beginning of his career, that's why I said he was the "main"pop star for awhile, that goes without saying, but he had talent and stage presence that went with that as well.

Talent and stage performance counts, twist it anyway you want, but it's been nice chatting with ya. biggrin
.

I agreed with you. But like i said you wen't off base. I said i don't know anyone who buys Cds just because someone looks good and not cause of there talent hmmm maybe teenage girls yelling i love you, i'll die for you lol
These list of sexiest singers, People Mag' sexist man and women alive just show how vain we are.

Well, sadly, it's what the music industry and radio has become. It's all about manufactured talent, and the industry putting "looks" before "talent."

I really hope youre joking. Prince did make Michael nervous but I highly doubt Michael went and changed his face because of Prince. Youre giving Prince too much power. confused He had been wanting to change his face since the 70's. It took one of those cazy fans to actually turn him onto it though.
...then he turned to me and said "I dare you".

Maybe it was the people he hung around like Elizabeth Taylor. It's a shame, but MJ was one of the greatest entertainer in the world n it wasn't based on his looks.

Why would I joke and how am I giving Prince too much power? lol What, I can wave a wand and do that? lol My comment has nothing to do with giving Prince power. My statement was in reference to Prince's popularity around the release of "Purple Rain" and MJ's status at the time. However, that's the past and that is over and done with, and quite frankly, I've always had and still have respect for both artists and their contributions to the music industry.

Wrong. There may have been those that stood out because they worked hard to "stand out" and had their own unique style, and took advantage of the situation of being the only artist during their time, not doing what everyone else is doing and not sounding like everyone else. Today, you 1,000 Beyonce look-alikes sounding the "same", nothing that stands out and takes you by storm, such as Elvis did, and Elvis was smart to go into black clubs and learn the moves and singing styles of black artists, and dared to be different than the usual white singers who were considered "crooners." He knew how to "shake things up". Prince did the same, as he knew how to grab fans attention and make fans "pay attention" to his unique style of dressing at the time--case and point-- he even went so far as having people question his gender and ethnicity--which he intertwined in his song "Controversy" asking his fans just what he had them doing in the lyrics "Am I Black or White, Am I Gay?" Are fans not still asking those questions today! What about all the singing groups with lead singers that were not exactly society's image of "pretty boy" and "pretty girl" that have been very successful? I know many of the groups I grew up listening to did not fit that fake-ass image. At the time MJ was the main pop star, having girls passing out all over the world...then came "Prince" and had MJ so nervous the dude went and changed his image completely, now if that is now having an affect on the music industry and being a genius at it, then you tell me what is?

I'm still waiting for the camera to drop on D'angelo!!! lawd hammercy and Jimi Hendrix was good looking and talented IMHO. Mich Jagger sex on legs. falloff

Quincy Jones said that MJ later regrets all of the surgeries done. Some MJ fans here saw him in person recently and said he's better looking than the photos. I would also like to say this about Prince. I've been to one of his concerts in the eighties, and had a crush on him. Would hang posters of him. However, it is something about MJ that is magnetic, and despite his changes, he still has it.

No wonder the music industry is so F*cked up and real talent is M.I.A. lol Based on the comments I've read on here, I certainly hope those of you who focus on external beauty of an artist so much, that if any of you have kids who aspire to be a singer or musician, you better start investing in lingerie, hoochie apparel, loads of makeup and put money aside for plastic surgery when the wrinkles start to show. lol

You're right because at the end of the day, these ladies get older, wiser, and the industry would only make room for the younger chicks. I was just having fun with this because I remember the Vanity/Apollonia comparison or the Vanity 6/Apollonia 6 and Mary Jane Girls comparison, and that was fun back then.

Ive heard the same things.
Michael has had reconstructive surgery for the last couple of years.
He has been looking better lately.
Good 4 him.
Now,when I say you,2elijah, are giving Prince too much power,
I mean by your implications.
As if MJ saw Prince's growing popluarity
and ran off to the surgent.
Michael could just compare album sales and sleep soundly if that was the case.
I love Prince and he is fine
but MJ does have that thing.
I mean, the man looks nothing like he used to
but people still go nuts and
Im not going to even lie,I cried
when I got a ticket for his "This is It" concert. lol
but anyway...bria is aight. razz

Nope not putting him up on a pedestal, but telling of my own experience around a certain period of both artists' career and how the media handled it, and I'll just leave it at that.

As far as MJ, my childhood friend's father who was a detective, was in charge of the Jackson 5 security team, anytime they came to NYC and performed at MSG. My friend, her sister and cousin had the luxury of meeting MJ's brothers and hanging out in their hotel room, and being backstage as well. The Jacksons of course always had chaperones with them, and family members/friends of the Jacksons were also at the hotel where they stayed as well, but MJ was not allowed to be in the room with fans or any other fans while they were there fof that matter.

He was kept separate "all the time" from fans. It seems the parents didn't mind if Jermaine, Jackie, Tito and Randy were around fans, but they highly, protected MJ and from what my friend and her sister used to come back and tell me, the parents and everyone around MJ treated MJ like a "baby". After all, he was the star of the group. That's a fact. I even have a pic of Jermaine and randy pillow fighting in the hotel room, with my friend's cousin sitting in a chair across the room chilling with them. My childhood friend gave some pics to me and my sisters as souvenirs, and that pic is in one of my photo albums somewhere. I was told, there was always chaperones with Jacksons in the hotel rooms to make sure they "behaved". Anyway, that's all I have to say on this topic. Nice chattin' with ya.
