I used to really like "A Love Bizarre" but now,it bores me boxed It's just a simple, light funk number.

The Glamorous Life. nod

"...'if U have to ask, U can't afford it' lingerie..." is one of my favorite lines! biggrin

"Love Hurts.
Your lies, they cut me.
Now your words don't mean a thing.
I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..."

It's a shame that verse gets cut out when Sheila does the song now. The "boys with small talk and small minds really don't impress me in bed" is also awesome and was pure genious for a pop song in 1984. I understand why Sheila cuts it out now, but still...

The Glamorous Life all the way, Love Bizarre just doesn't feel as original and timeless.

"A Love Bizarre" is a little too Prince-heavy.He totally dominates that track, and Sheila is really just a guest vocalist on her own single.

Yes,he's all over "The Glamorous Life" too,but he lets her shine. Her vocals take center stage.

I'd probably choose 'A Love Bizarre' because I don't often pull out TGL, but do give 'in Romance 1600' a spin pretty often.

The version of 'The Glamorous Life' (La Vida Glamarosa ) from the 'Fe' album is really bitchin' though, I think I prefer it over the original. cool

Glamorous Life for its hook and Sheila's percussion but the extended version of Love Bizarre was everything I loved about 80s albums and Prince projects in particular -- I was totally satisfied with a long playing album that might only have 5 or 6 tracks -- arrangements would go different places and beyond the typical three minutes. I am so over albums today that include 20 tracks that go nowhere.

Both songs were more popular in my household (ie. we actually had copies of them) than any Prince recording in the mid 80s.

Naw, it's "in bed." It's a great sexually suggestive line.

Hard 2 compare

Glamorous Life is Sheila's Uptown
© 1984 Girlsongs Music

She wears a long fur coat of mink
Even in the summertime
Everybody knows from the coy little wink
The girl's got a lot on her mind
She's got big thoughts, big dreams
And a big brown Mercedes sedan
What I think this girl, she really wants
Is 2 be in love with a man

A Love Bizarre is Sheila's Sexuality
© 1985 Controversy Music

A strawberry mind, a body that's built 4 2
A kiss on the spine, we do things we never do
Come swallow the pride and joy of the ivory tower
We'll dance on the roof, make love on a bed of flowers

I too play Romance 1600 more than Glamorous Life

My favorite from Romance is Dear Michaelangelo
the melody along with Eddie M's sax piece really set this song apart

Dear Michaelangelo, color the dreams in my head
I look at your paintings and I'm with U in your bed
Dear Michaelangelo, save me from death's invitation
I'll make love 2 no one unless he's of your persuasion

I love them both but The Glamorous Life is my absolute favorite of the 2.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

The video to Glamorous Life was very iconic though. That's basically how I always pictured Sheila E when I heard her songs

I can't choose. The Love Bizarre is a funky dance track that you just can't sit down to. Glamorous Life has that fun upbeat latin pop feel with Prince overtones but Id rather listen to it while driving my car - not dance to it. they are just different to me...like grapes and grapefruit. Now for the videos? Glamours Life hands down cuz that Krush Groove was just painful biggrin

love Bizzare and the new takes of it, the original is a little slow but the London versions are cool, faster and rocky!
Give what U can, all U can stand, and all of your life will be made!
