I always enjoy reading interviews from ex-Prince band members, especially this one with Lisa, who seems very cool. But I'm really tired of non-black people obsessing with the joke: "I must be black because ... I can play funk, blues, R&B, gospel music, etc.," or "I can act cool" a la Bill Clinton so I am black.'' (No, he was NOT the first black president) LOL.
There's a LOT more to it than that, of course.

Don't get me wrong, I have a healthy sense of humor when it comes to all people, including my own. But -- and I don't believe sweet Lisa meant to be offensive or insensitive -- it is nevertheless tiresome and insulting.

Otherwise, I really did enjoy the read.

And then he’d imagine in his head like … he told me this, like you have to kick the bass player’s ass. Like when you’re playing the drums, like kick the other guy’s ass, like put things in there that’s gonna make the other guy … which was all him, you know … do something unexpected or like, try to keep up, you know. So it was so cool ‘cause then he’d go … he’d do … the drum track would be down and then he’d go and get the bass and play the bass and then that weird drum lick would come up and then he’d go, “Oh,” you know, like the bass player, and then try to keep and then try to kick the guitar player’s ass, etcetera, etcetera. And it was just really cool to sit there. Like, when I first moved out there, I stayed in his house for a while and we’d just be in the studio all the time, and sometimes I’d be the one punching ‘em in or whatever. That was a lot of good stuff.

Wow I really didn't realized that Lisa is so candid and talkative. She must drink the Wendy kool aid that day.

Claremont/Byrne, Claremont/Smith Xmen, Miller's Daredevil and Wolfman/Perez on Teen Titans where right up there with Prince in terms of teen obsessions for me.

I discovered that there is lots of crossover between Prince and comics when I spoke to Kevin Smith at the Celebration in '01.
