Beverly Knight or Shelby J's version of Rock Steady

I was just listening to Shelby J sing "Rock Steady" (a great song!) but even though in general I think she has a great voice I find that I like Beverly Knights version (from the Picture Book) a lot better. I can't tell from this one song if Beverly has a better range, but I feel her singing of it is more nuanced whereas Shelby just kinda belts it out with less variance in intonation and force. What do other people think?

Well yeah, of course, her singing it back in the day is still the definitive version. I think of contemporary interpretations though Beverly tears that song up!

Don't forget Patti Austin did a great version as well.

It's still Auntie Ree's jam though.

I haven't heard Patti Austin do it, I'll try to check that out.
