Appolonia Six - Some Kind of Lover Does anyone know who wrote this song and/or who plays the music on it? I just heard it for the first time yesterday, and I was interested in this information. I never bought the A6 album, so I did not have liner notes to read.
Thanks! perfection is a fallacy of the imagination...

Yes, Jody had a jam by the same name. However, I just heard the A6 song, which is completely different. They just have the same name. Brenda is singing lead on the A6 song. perfection is a fallacy of the imagination...

I LOVE the A6 album, one of the best associated artist-albums imo. Judging from the sound of the (live) drums, I would think it's Sheila E playing drums, as is the case on "A Million Miles". Just like the white winged dove...

Prince wrote all the Apollonia 6 album. Brenda receives a co-writing credit for 'Some Kind Of Lover', and Lisa appears on backing vocals. Various other Revolution members guest on several other tracks, as does Jill Jones. bellanoche said: I never bought the A6 album, so I did not have liner notes to read.
Like most of the Starr Company/PP stuff the liner notes aren't always the best place for accurate info when it comes to writing and performing credits since Prince would usually obscure his input in the project by giving the band members or other associates credits on the sleeve. And go grab a copy of the album, it's great.

That did not sound right to me, so I figured I would come here and check. I can here JJ and Lisa singing backing vocals though. perfection is a fallacy of the imagination...

Sure it is. It's been used as a verb since the 14th century, according to Webster.

Not too fond of the A6 album. A couple of the tracks are allight. Doesn't hold a candle to the V6 album. Christian Zombie Vampires

I think that the A6 and V6 albums are funky on 2 different levels.....I love the A6 classic song "Some Kind Of Lover" and the muscianship is so TIGHT. V6 on the other hand is a well put together Piece of work. SO i like both.

I agree. The V6 album is this amazing little album that came out of nowhere. The music is edgy, bold and exciting...totally ahead of its time. The A6 album has its moments, but it's not nearly as good as the V6 album.
