She looks like she's been airbrushed in that pic - with the water, she's definitely more curvy than that I think!

I'm not a dancer, so I really can't give an accurate or comprehensive assessment. However, she was fun and engaging to watch, and for me, that's more than half of what makes a great dancer.

That's about 75% of what makes a good dancer in the end - it's all about engaging the audience nod

I agree cool
I may not be the best trained dancer but I sure know how to make you think that lol
And look at Prince.Im sure he probably wasnt classically trained but he made the crowds go nuts with his nasty dance moves and splits...all without pointing his boot covered toes 2 hmph! giggle

Ah but, now, Prince, really IS a fantastic dancer - absolutely, for someone who was never properly trained, he's just a complete natural, and so petite and precise - quite balletic at times - lovely!! biggrin

Ottensen

...from what I remember, her stage performances during Prince sets were far beneath her capabilities. In my estimation she was pretty objectified as a stage ornament, although I'm sure on the converse side it was incredible in many ways to be part of such a huge machine as the one surrounding Prince at such a tender age. I only had a few chances to glimpse her dancing in more conservative styles (for lack of better expression), with the influence of modern, ballet, and Middle Eastern, and in those instances her talent was clear, apparent and without question. However when the bulk of your appearances are spent stage diving, hair flipping, and tootsie rolling across stadium stages and nightclubs against the backround of Shoop re-mixes and "The Pope", it's hard for people to recall the seriousness and devotion of your classical training. In any event, great to see she's still out there, and hope to see more of her dance work on a more serious note. She's got chops.

I think Cat had more energy and stage presence.Mayte obviously had more training but I think a lot of people enjoy watching Cat over Mayte especially the chemistry that her and Prince had onstage.Im definitely not Mayte-bashing tho.

Yes, Cat was a fantastic dancer too, not trained, but a very, very good natural dancer! The only thing I can't bear with Cat is her feet eek , as a trained dancer myself, those feet drive me crazy... she really needed to point those toes!! lol

nod Lawd, yes! One of the first things they taught us in dance, every time your foot comes off the floor POINT YOUR TOES. I have to agree, that's my big pet peeve with Cat, but she was jammin' tho! dancing jig

wow!! I clearly see that you have done some major observation. Dang, you really broke it down. You have convinced me enough to agree with what you are saying about her dancing. I remember the Endorphin Machine performance, and she was dancing. I was amazed to see how much she swung her hair around all the time, without stopping. I thought that she was going to seriously give herself a wiplash and that would not be pretty. eek

Yeah, I didn't want to say anything and be labeled a "hater", but she wore way too much make-up--it made her look like a drag queen half the time. boxed But I will say, in the photos I've seen of her with less make-up she looks pretty enough. (Her eyes are a little too wide-set, imo; but that's just me being very picky...not hating!)

And Mayte on a bad day is still better than the Twitz (who also wear drag-queen level make-up) any day.

I'm not feeling those TWINZ at all, I'd rather have Diamond and Pearl back. But yeah, Mayte prettier with less makeup - and better at belly dancing than stage diving.
