The Screams of Passion: what if... ...Prince released a version of this gem himself?!? I would love to know what his version would have sounded like - not that I don't love The Family's version of this track, but y'all feel me, right? - I think we always wonder what Prince would have done with songs given to other acts had he released them on his own albums....
Anyway, for the wonderful version that we all know, show your love!

I always felt that it could have been a Prince/Sheila E. duet.

even though the original is a "beast" in the "purple catalogue".....
prince's version would SON st. paul & susannah's!!!!! just like prince & rosie's "nothing compares 2 u" is THE version!!!!! AND.....prince woulda screamed himself (although susannah gets an a+ for hers)!!!!!

I'm happy to read that others think along the same lines as I do in respect to this particular song.
Prince and Sheila duetting on this would have been the BOMB!!! Anyway, I was looking at the video for the original version of this track and always thought it could have been done better. I always imagined it taking place in some grand mansion, to be shot in black and white (quite like The Family album and single covers), although certain items of clothing would be highlighted in color for effect (most probably pink and purple). *sigh* I think I'm gonna listen to this again...excuse me for a few mins.

I have a studio rehearsal version of this with Prince singing it.
it's a cool version, because you also hear Prince giving the band instructions.

i like it the way it is. I don't care for Prince and Rosies overblown NC2U personally. It's nice for live, but not a "great" version imo. Eric Leeds sax is the soulful wail in the original and is more interesting and unique. Plus Paul's voice is smoother than Princes and works for the Family material. I have heard Princes versions that are out there. They are also cool - but I like the Family versions better. Lightening in a bottle imo.
Now- if we're talking Javeeta Steeles "Open Book" I would have rather that Prince's version made it to the public ear.

I like Prince's falsetto take on the vocal line.

I like Susannah's voice on Screams but Prince and Lisa woulda tore that up perfect! With the original players, a B/W video in a mansion would have been sexy. I'd have to take Jerome out tho cuz every time I C him I laugh!

One of my favorite songs of all time.
I wouldn't want another "Nothing Compares 2 U" redo. By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!
