PrintableCat admitted in an interview, and Prince echoed this, where she told Prince that although she liked the way Prince and Mayte danced together, they would never have what she and Prince had. hmmm. what does that mean exactly? I can't say that I preferred one over another. Sign O The Times and Lovesexy were a different time in P's life and music, so a different dancing style prevailed.
Mayte's dancing suited the albums she was with him for and a lot of the TV work they did together. | |

okay i've gotten myself 2gether again ..ahem ... mayte is a GREAT DANCER, from the elegance of her ballerina style of dancing outshines anything cat has ever tried 2 do in that area. her belly dancing is a thing of beauty as well, her only flaw is that when it came 2 the hip hop/rave dancing there were things lacking but hey 2/3 ain't bad ... AND SHE'S FINE AS HELL AS WELL!!!  man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81 | |

To erika: I had to do a lot of searching on the internet for it. Maybe you could type in interview with cat about prince on google. I did not exactly type those words in the box, because I just happened to run across it and I found it, but that was a little while ago. I think it was after Mayte joined the band. Maybe around 1994 or 5 IDK just a lucky guess  | |

The only thing that is different between the two is that one was classically trained while the other was just a dancer without training. As far as ballet and belly dancing, Mayte was the best. When it comes to the whole hip/hop dancing, maybe she was not at the top on that one! Cat definitely was a #1 stunner when it comes to hip/hop dancing. There was once a rumor saying that Mayte was performing on stage with Prince, and she was wearing rollerblades. She had supposedly fell on her butt and was embarrassed . Have any of you guys heard about it, and do you guys think that it was true?she was on rollerblades during the d.p. tour but i dont know about falling | |

yup,Spike Lee asked Prince what happened to Cat and Prince said the last time he saw her I think was like in an airport and she told him that Mayte was cute or something like that but he and her would never have what they had together.I personally think she meant Mayte and Prince's chemistry onstage would never top his and Cat's...and we all know its true.When Prince and Cat danced together it was like a duo and they were so good together(Glam Slam video)...Prince hardly danced with Mayte and when he did...it just wasnt like him and Cat.Mayte may have been classically trained longer than Cat but Cat was handsdown better at entertaining with her dance moves.She was like the nasty girl version of Prince...Mayte seemed so innocent and wholesome
Im a huge Cat fan so maybe Im bias but...my vote will ALWAYS go 2 Cat no matter if she "pointed her toes" correctly  or not...

Ill check google 4 it I googled Prince Speaks and Cat Glover Interview and that's how I came across it. Will take some filtering but you will find the info. I think Cat was hurt by the replacement cuz she sure fell off the grid for a while. | |

Im a huge Cat fan so maybe Im bias but...my vote will ALWAYS go 2 Cat no matter if she "pointed her toes" correctly I totaly agree. Cat and Prince danced together like a couple and like equals! They were down right like a funky Fred Astare /Ginger Rogers whereas Mayte just seemed like a back up dancer. But I must say after the NOW video and THE ONE, Mayte seemed more like a partner. I dig the chemistry with both but I think Cat held her own moreso than Mayte who just seemed to be taking instructions.  | |

Good enough 4 Prince This is truly it here...A lot of girls are good dancers...including myself...and I am no "Paula..." However...I can choreograph better than I can execute... A great dancer...can dance from the bottom through the top...Paula's tap dance ability is incredible...and girls that work from the center...stay belly looking...this is a limited style...a lot of stripper's are the same way...they really can't travel across a floor...all they can do...is be a central focal point...so there's your answer...good is not great...good is good enough. I'm not a dancer, so I really can't give an accurate or comprehensive assessment. However,she was fun and engaging to watch, and for me, that's more than half of what makes a great dancer. | |
