I don't like the album cover. It's the most unflattering photo of Lisa I've ever seen and Wendy looks totally spaced out. Let's hope the music on it is better. I prefer them when they make pop music and their first album is my favourite followed by Fruit at the bottom.

Another 'to each her own' thang, I think. Personally, this is my 2d favorite cover, right after Re-Mix-in-a-Carnation. I think it's gorgeous.

I am so excited about this new album!
Having said that - not sure about the cover. Wendy looks like she's thinking, "Did I leave the iron on?"

I like the idea of it, but indeed. Lisa looks like she is doing the windows and Wendy looks like she's thinking 'Booooored!'.

Lisa looks like she is doing the windows and Wendy looks like she's thinking 'Booooored!'. i love it. it's like they're trapped in an old television set console -- Lisa looking above for rescue while gently pushing against the glass to break free, and Wendy pondering, "how did I end up here?" The sepia-toned trees and roots are the legacy they're tied into and the sun gently breaks through begging the question... They definitely seem to be looking in different directions. Maybe it's a subtle statement that although they still have their music together, their personal lives are not as intertwined as they once were (they each have their own families now). At least that's my own little interpretation.

Ok, here is our (my gf and I) interpretation of the cover.....They are stuck on an elevator caught between what would seem to be heaven and hell.Hence the up and down buttons both pushed. Torn between good and evil. Reaching for....One...or Salvation. The other.....just torn. "Life is a Bowl of Cherries, but this is just the pits"

I hadn't even caught the elevator buttons - great catch! (You'd think I would catch it, too -- at the bottom of my stairs, I have one of Lisa's photos that incorporates an elevator . . . )

I'm really curious about what this record will sound like after the scoring work they've done. They have improved a great deal as composers, arrangers, and producers, but I don't know if the SONGS here will be any better for it. I keep thinking of the last Boingo record, which was done after Danny Elfman had established himself as a film scoring superstar with "Batman" and other projects. The record had wonderful string and horn arrangements, but was difficult to follow. I hope this new album doesn't suffer the same fate. ::Brother, can you paradigm?::

Interesting that they would name their new Cd after a lyric from a Joni Mitchell song.

I think it's interesting that the much criticized Steve Parke did this horrible cover art and some people are reaching to make it interesting/unique because it's W&L, when it's just bad. And yet if he did same art for P people would blast him and P for having bad taste. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Thanks for the news on this release - I'm very excited about an album from two ladies I've always admired, and I can honestly say I love all their albums.
I never saw Girl Bros as being particularly sad to be honest, apart from the obvious eulogy song. It's got a good mix of tunes, with hooks and melodies that take time to appreciate unlike the hammer over the head approach of 'Sideshow' from their debut album for instance, which even I've tired of after twenty years. I'm not expecting another 'Strung Out (G-Strung Mix)' this far down the line, but they'll always have a funky streak, married with an increasingly ethereal side that 'Balloon' shows...and variety being the spice of life, bring it on girls!! Well, ya know, if I could post pics from my mac by simple upload feature, that would make me as savvy as some I see here, but that update has not happened...yet...when?

I consider myself a computer savvy but even at times it can be frustrating to go through some of the pages and I wished the navbar were word links rather than symbols of where to click to that would be much easier. And there are some W&L fans I am sure arent user friendly and might not bother to go back there and prefers to stick on the two wendyandlisa myspace pages for upcoming news. That is why I dont go to their site as much since Jesse created myspaces about them but I will go back if they want us to purchase the CDS via from their site rather through the myspaces:-P

As someone who is praising this work -- you're right in that I'm pretty much always going to like whatever Wendy and Lisa put out -- I readily plead guilty to that. But at the same time, I also like Parke's work for Prince. Graffiti Bridge is one of my favorite covers. Anyway, it is possible to like and praise Wendy and Lisa without knocking Prince. http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista

I always felt that Wendy and Lisa added color to Prince's music, once they left the sky went grey with periods of sunshine - I love me some Wendy and Lisa!! Can't wait 2 hear the new CD!! I also think Bobby Z had a great influence in the drum programming - just listen to Sign vs LoveSexy and then the drums on Batman.. Bobby Z's drum machine kicks much booty! EvolSiDoG -08
