Janet jackson stole Vanity Look

Now i've been reading some posts which stated that Janet Jackson sound came from prince which is correct but has anyone esle notice that during the control-janet. Era Janet look came from vanity and with the sexuality from the janet. album is from vanity

Plus janet was working with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis who knew vanity and i heard that janet was very jealous of Vanity back in the days

Reason i bring this up because everytime an artist fall it seem as if a other take there identity.( Example Rihanna who is taking fefe dobson style hard core)

That's because she changed to what was IN at that time.

I mean this thread should be in the Associated artists & people forum since it's mainly about Vanity. You should ask one of the mods to transfer it.

Doesn't this belong in the associated artist forum? Since we don't have a forum for 'who cares about those [Bait snip - luv4u]? confused

okay?I dont see your point.Janet has reinvented herself many times. The RN era was all about social awareness...the janet. era was about her showing the world her sensual sexy side...so?

As we all know, "Nasty Girl" by Vanity 6 is a classic. I'm curious though as to how y'all think it compares to other classic "Nasty" songs.

Which song does everyone like better: "Nasty Girl" by Vanity 6 (1982), or "Nasty" by Janet Jackson (1986)?

I'm positive that the Janet Jackson song was in part inspired by Prince's Vanity 6 song, since Jackson worked on it with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Does anyone know more about this? There are some aspects of the song that make it look like to me that Janet was trying to copy Vanity a little bit. First, notice how Janet talk/sings like Vanity, and secondly the "badass cool" attitude she tries to emote. Of course, Vanity was more blatantly sexy, but they both went for the controlling/tough image.

I'm sure that Janet Jackson and Vanity knew a lot of the same people too. To add to the situation, of course, the media tried to create a Prince/Michael Jackson feud/rivalry...

Secondly, does everyone know about a song called "Nasty Gal" by Betty Davis in 1975? (Check youtube if you haven't heard it-it's there). I never knew about it until recently, but the vibe of the song sounds a lot like Vanity 6's "Nasty Girl". "Nasty Gal" is so funky that Prince was probably influenced by it. "Nasty Girl" really sounds like Prince's own personal spin on the 1975 funk jam. Does anyone know anything about this? It can't be a coincidence can it?

Finally, which "nasty" song is the best: "Nasty Gal", "Nasty Girl", or "Nasty"?

Personally, I like all 3 songs, but "Nasty Girl" is my favorite.

See i'm not the only one that tinks this

I still maintain that Janet's (*hot*) song "Strawberry Bounce" is totally Vanity 6 with Susan doing the lead vocals. Totally!!
