I agree. Jodi was the best production and songs. Me being a HUGE Adam Ant fan, I was let down by that album. I thought it was whack. That collab with Adam was kinda funny. The way it went down, I mean. Adam intially wanted P to produce him. He had been trying to get in touch with P ever since 83 but P wouldn't fuck with him. So after years of trying, he went to the next best thing, in his mind. And that was Andre. I thought it was silly that P didn't want to produce Adam when P had clearly bit off of Adam, at least visually, during his Controversy and 1999 period.

I just looked it up on discogs.com. Andre did three album tracks: "Closer", "Don't Cry Baby" and "Heaven".

For his comeback album and first new release in five years, Adam Ant turned to old Prince crony Andre Cymone, who transformed him into a dance music singer, producing and playing all the instruments on contemporary dance tracks, over which Ant's longtime partner Marco Pirroni played lead guitar and Ant himself contributed appropriately rhythmic vocals. Some of the lyrics had his old flair for mockery, but, like most dance music singers, he came off as only a part of the production, rather than its focus. Nevertheless, the makeover was good for a U.K./U.S. Top 20 hit in "Room at the Top" and respectable chart peaks of number 19 (England) and number 57 (America), a big improvement over 1985, when he looked washed up.

Andre tracks:

The first track, ‘Room at the top’ starts exactly like ‘Undress’ by Vanity, with that bass riff. It’s a really funky cut, with Adam’s avant garde take on it. 'Be beautiful but shut up'. “Made in Engerland, born and bred’ (part of this is a football chant where England is pronounced ‘Enger-land’. Very cool track. Andre is clearly all over this track though.

The next track ‘Rough Stuff’ is just OK to me. But I like the bass again. ‘Do it ‘til you’re sore’, that kind of thing. It’s pretty cool, but doesn’t grab me.

‘Manners & Physique’ is very Adam to me. I remember at the time people were saying this was written about Vanity. ’Now you quit the drugs and the messing around’. ‘I love it when you tease, and better when you pose’. The music is quite progressive and you’d know it’s Adam if you know Adam’s music.

My fav track is ‘Bright Lights Black Leather’, which was produced by Adam. It’s just really kind of buccaneer-ish and has that fun pirate-feel of that time. I used to play this alot. Although I did like ‘Piccadilly’, which was co-written by Andre. And ‘Anger, Inc.’, which is a slow-ish groove and I could just imagine him doing some kind of ‘bar’ inspired video to this.

Adam went into a bit of seclusion after this.

Also, Melanie Andrews did some backing vocals. If I'm not mistaken, she did the talking intro on Janet's 'What have you done for me lately'.

BTW, Adam suffered from severe depression and has been treated in a mental institution. He is much better now and coping pretty well. But all of his image was totally all him. He came up with it all himself, and all those involved with him admit to that. For me, ‘Prince Charming’ & ‘Goody Two Shoes’ defined him.

A pretty good effort, but I think Adam was caught up in Prince’s success at that time, like alot of people and wanted a piece of it. Like others mentioned, he took the next best thing, which in his eyes must have been Andre.

That wasn't the first time that an artist wanted Prince to produce their album,but had to settle for Andre instead.In 1983,Evelyn Champagne King wanted Prince to produce her next album.She was a huge fan and wanted to work with him,but she got Andre instead.He contributed several tracks to her 'Face 2 Face' album,including the single "Teenager".Who remembers that song? Got some airplay in early 84.
