We aren't necessarily disagreeing here. I appreciate anyone that can play songs a wide range of people want to hear. But what skill does that take? All you have to do is play the Top 40 and you;re going to accomplish the mission.

Basically, all a successful DJ has to do is resist the impulse to play what he likes in favor of playing what the crowd likes.

I'm not talking about Top 40 DJing. You're right, anyone can do that. You gotta look at special genres to find good DJs. I DJ Funk and Soul and make my living of it. I rarely play songs that are known to those on the dancefloor. But when I still get people moving, and they are feeling the music, and I take their hand and guide them through the history of Funk and Soul music without loosing their attention, then I'm happy. And the night is perfect if people don't even ask for songs - then I know that they were really into it and didn't have the need to ask for songs they know. I promise you, if I play your party, I'm gonna burn the house down. biggrin (Now enough with this shameless self-promotion).

But in order to do that, you need to know your music. It takes years of diggin' and a good feeling of selecting the right tunes to make a successful night. You gotta know how to mix up what you got. And yes, that takes talent, if you want to be successful enough to make a living of it.

I agree with all that. I'm not belittling the industry. I guess I'm just drawing a distinction between a DJ and an artist.

I just listened to some of her mixes on her website. She's not god awful. She's a good "vanity"/lounge DJ like most DJs are today. She plays what she thinks the crowd will like (aimless easy blends) and enjoys the celebrity of it. I'm sure the crowds she plays for aren't real "househeads". Not risky as far as I heard. She's not the "bangin" type of DJ that would make you feel like you had the best fuck of your life. Djs like that, you don't need drinks or drugs to party to....they know how to spin and get you high off the music (have you thinkin'about that mix for months).

Ha Ha... they are a little rough, but trust me those are the people you want to party with...Joyous and super house/old skool music appreciators. They don't care how they look...just there to boogie!

I guess this wasn't quite the kind of "love" that was expected. shrug She wears too many clothes and doesn't jiggle enough. shrug The org can be a cold and brutal place sometimes.

Did I miss something? There was a pretty balanced discussion of her physical attractiveness and various opinions of her skills as a DJ. That branched off into a discussion about DJing and veered itself back to Rashida. I didn't see any posts that fit your description. You're the first one to mention jiggling. Are you sure you posted in the right thread?

I think she is great and she has offered me useful and generous advice everytime I needed it.
It is a bit easy to say that she can't mix, I would love to see you guys up there spinning records lol

Not true- There are plenty of beautiful female dj's who do there thing. DJ Beverly Bond & DJ Kiss are incredible looking and incredible dj's who give any dude a run for his money. Pretty should not be an excuse for lack of talent.
