They had better get down to this neck of the woods cause as many times as I've seen them, I've never seen all the original guys together in person before

That's what I'm saying. That along with Terry and Jimmy are the only reasons I think this is cool. Who stated that "Oak Tree" was confirmed as the song they will do? That doesn't make a lick of sense because that is not a Time cut. That's a solo Morris cut. And I hope they don't play The Bird/Jungle Love medley either. If they really want to turn it out, they'll play 777-9311 or Get It Up or even Wild & Loose. I'm just glad that I've seen the "real" Time two times in my life. Twice opening up for P. Once on the Controversy tour and once on the 1999 tour. They were bangin'. Waaaay better than these imposters that's been masquerading on stage with Morris as The Time. What a disgrace.

Are you serious? The time has never been a big act. They were already a
big act among r&b fans during the early 80's. The success of the purple
rain movie and ice cream castle albums cemented the group's pop success.
Jungle Love and the bird are still favorites on pop radio.

Are you kidding? Playoffs? You wanna talk about playoffs? lol

What I'm most excited about, as several others have already posted is Jesse Fucking Johnson. He's basically been MIA since the brilliant Bare my Naked Soul album so it would be fantastic to see him on stage again.

777-9311 would be the perfect song to show case them, especially if the did the full version. Terry on the monster bass, Jellybean on the drum solo. Monte and Jimmy Jam holding down the keys. Morris and Jerome with the moves and Jesse lighting it up for that solo.

unfortunately it will probably be the The Bird/Jungle Love bit

Skillet(full version) would be a Nice Surprise cool

lawd... "such nastiness"!

A-hem, but anyway...I'm running through tracks in my mind trying to figure out how a Time song would mix into one of her hits. Cool w/ Please don't stop the music??? I don't get it...but can't wait to see if/how it works. I love the song but "Oak Tree" for some reason doesn't do it for me in this kind of appearance.

I wouldn’t get too excited. My guess is that Riri will perform Umbrella in three or four different ways for 20 seconds each, and one of these segments will be with the Time. There’s been a record number of covers of Umbrella, so that would be in that vein.

My friend... Let's get serious....

The Time has never been a BIG act... Not even among r&b fans... Not big enough to win grammys or whatever... It was just another funk group

Their appearance at the grammys has more to do with the fact that the band is affiliated to Prince...

I would have to dispute this statement for the simple fact if there were NO Time there would be no

Mint Condition
Sounds of Blackness
Janet Jackson (of superstar status)
SOS Band

And countless and countless other examples of the hit songs produced by Jimmy, Terry, Jessie, Monte and the work of Jellybean and Morris. And reducing their significance to "Prince affliation" doesn't give credit where credit is due. The problem is probably 60% of the fan base didn't get to see the Time pre-Jimmy and Terry's depature. The bulk is aware of the Purple Rain line up and forward. The original lineup was simply put "A sound of monsterous purportions." Anything that made Prince step his stuff up has to be respected. cool

Ummm, everyone who is worrying/concerned whether they'll do the Oak Tree/that it was a "Morris" cut & not a "Time" can relax. I'm 99.9% certain suomynona was joking with he posted that. lol

I wanna hear 777-9311. biggrin
