I think Mayte was a constant reminder of the reality of the tragedy that he experienced... and Mani was a source of exciting new lustful feelings... that had no reminders of death and broken dreams. Maybe he saw her as a fresh beginning that was an easy out instead of the hard work of working thru to salvage his relationship with Mayte.

Mayte not wanting to convert her religion to JW may have been the deal breaker.

check out the naacp awards (whatever that stands for) where Stevie Wonder Gives the speech and then actually appears, Mayte was in bits(tears) and Prince was not far off it, he was almost speechless, but check out the interaction he had with Mayte, He loved her, maybe still does, but all I will say, is that he is happier now and looks alot better.

We are all human. I have never treated anyone like has prince has done. I would never steal a friend's song and say it was mine. I would never tell my gf/wife NOT to phone me. I would never never tell a women what to wear and do. etc etc. Out of all the artists i know alot about he is one of the worse people. He blatently ignores those that try to speak to him; e.gs elton john, stevie ray vaughan, boy george, pharrell and many normal no celebs
He's only passionate about himself and god.

I know people who have met him. He is not nice! Just as MANY people who worked/ been involved with him have said including andre cymone, w &l, his engineers, michael b, morris day, jesse johnson, mika, sinead o connor, nona gaye, ex managers, bodyguards, publicist and so on.

I am not hating on Prince; just being honest. I have read evry bio, interview and litrature on him as well as knowing people who have met him. The picture painted is not pretty.

I respect people more for who they are than how successful or talented they are.

When Prince broke up with his other women it was like Christmas!

Mani seemed to be to opposite of Mayte IMO. She never seemed to fool with Prince and his business affairs (maybe that was not her thing) except for the occasional award show. Prince also did not have that sparkle of *im crazy in love* in his eyes when he was with Mani that he had with Mayte. Moreover, seeing them together just seemed awkward for me. It was as if she was an escape (from the dealings of Mayte)/rebound for him and she saw the gold, diamonds and pearls took it and ran!!

Mani also had an arrogant, snobbish look to her like "This is my man BITC*" While Mayte always looked fresh, sexy, supportive and welcoming/approachable.

I’m just a sucker for the Prince-Mayte days.

If Prince left Mayte because of the unfortunate death of their child...then that is understandable...b/c there is no pain greater and no one can pass judgment on how another deals with a situation such as this.

On the other hand, if Prince was bored...saw some eye candy and moved on then I am very disappointed. From a fans point of view. its like he traded down. . But who knows their could have been cheating on both ends. Grief, pain and sadness will make you do things that you might later regret.
- But in my heart, I believe it was a mixture of this and more.

Even though we will never know what truly happened its likely the above happened coupled with Prince’s rumored controlling ways. There is a saying that goes “ A caged bird heart dies to be free” . And if this was Mayte then it might be best that they parted.

I still miss those days when I saw them together though.
