I guess my initial post didn't go thru. Anyhoo...

For those of you proclaiming how badly the Time kicked Prince's ass on the 1999 tour, I think it should be looked at from a different perspective. First off, the majority of those who feel this way have a preference for the more funky tracks that Prince has laid down over the years and kind of just tolerate his more "out there" stuff. To put it politically incorrect, BROTHAS DON'T DIG SO MUCH ON POP AND ROCK! Why are you surprised that the Time supposedly put on a better show than Prince when the man gave them what is arguably the absolute best funk he EVER laid down? 777-9311? Get It Up?! Cool??!! The Stick??!! Gigolos Get Lonely Too???!!! DAAAAAMMMMMNNNNN!!!!! How could the Time go wrong???? While Prince is flipping back and forth from a sultry, sexy ballad to a hard rock anthem to pop fun to straight funk, to concert pianist, showing the true virtuoso that he is, Morris and the boys are slidin across the stage in zoot suits and Stacy Adams, STRAIGHT PIMPIN!! I for one loved both, but understood two very important things:

1) Morris Day was the coolest cat on the planet.

2) Prince is a genius.

Well, that's not describing me at all. Like I posted a few times already, I was there taking notes. Even though I was only 13 when I saw P on the 1999 tour, I was already playing lead guitar, bass, keys and drums. I was into hard rock as much as I was into anything else that sounded good. I was the one who got my friends into P in the first place. NOBODY liked the song "Free" but me. DEFINATELY nobody could fuck with Bambi except for me. I was always the only young brother who dug P's rock shit. That was the only reason I got into P in the first place. If he didn't have "I'm Yours" on his debut, I never would have gave him a listen. But with me stating that, The Time STILL kicked major ass on P's band on that tour.
