Color of Success appreciation It is my view that Morris Day's "Color of Success" is a very underrated album.
"Color of Success" is a perfect sequel to "Ice Cream Castles" for Morris. The opening measures on title track are especially perfect. All of the songs are great, except for the one apparent filler "Don't Wait for Me". I am amazed that this album was not more popular during the time in which it was released, along with all of the albums by THE TIME. If Morris's other albums had been more similar to "Color of Success", I feel they may have had achieved greater success. "Color of Success" is the album by Morris Day which most resembles the sound of THE TIME in my view. Who else just loves this album?

I was never that impressed with Morris' solo albums. Both 'The Color Of Success' and 'Daydreaming' have too many synthesizers, making the songs sound too loud and overproduced. His solo albums lack the witty lyrics and party atmosphere of the Time's albums.

I just got a hold of the cassette a few years ago. I was impressed when I first heard the album. Before that the only thing I knew of it was the song 'Oak Tree'. I like the title track, I do agree it was a great intro for Morris Day as a solo artist. Of course, I like the 'Oak Tree' track and I like 'The Character'. That was a cool song. 'The Color Of Success' album was cool. Morris Day held his own with this one.

It's definately his best solo album. My favorite song from the album is "Love Sign". Andy is a four letter word.

didn't that joint have just 6 songs?????
I remember hearing the remix to "love sign" that was a good song. I can't stand behind the rest of the album. It was better than his third and those new songs on the live Time cd.

I love the title track! Ask where they're going, they'll tell U – "Nowhere"
They've taken a lifetime lease on Paisley Park ...

Love Sign was the shit!... I dug almost all of the associates debuts -- MD, Vanity, Jesse... '83 thru '86 were fan-fuckin-tastic years for my earholes.
