The Time's current line up If anybody goes to the show tonight, let us know who was in the line up. I hate to be cryptic, but a difference will definitely be noticed(and not in a good way) unless some internal issues have been resolved since New years
Thanks | |

Morris just baffles me. They could release new music for their fans and they don't. He has a website w/absolutely no info on it.Then,he does a car commercial.I almost don't care anymore.I love their music so much and have seen them so many times. This no new music or ,at least, unreleased stuff from the day used to just irk me soo!!Now,I am accepting that the legacy will never be what it could have been.I would still die for all their unreleased music, though! maybe he just doesn't want to. I think he's quite content with touring the country playing his hits

Notice that the last "TIME" album turned out to be a Morris Day album instead? They have recorded at least one album of music (called "Old Dogs, New Tricks") but it will probably never come out because I don't know if it had any Prince involvement at all. I know that there have been members of The Time that are frustrated that the show is basically the same show they've always done and haven't grown at all creatively. That has got to be frustrating considering that Prince used to really push them to learn to do something with both hands, sing and dance and now they are just standing still artistically. I'd LOVE a new Time album. Don't expect to hear one anytime soon. The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. I thought I understood that P was working with them a few years ago on a new cd.They were even bringing Jesse into the fold. Morris lives in GA.If I see him in the streets .I will ask him about this situation. He was even on local radio a few years ago saying they had a new cd coming out. I'd LOVE a new Time album. Don't expect to hear one anytime soon. "I'm a pig..so,magic elixir I swill"

Jellybean and Monte are still with the group, but here is the unfortunate news for us fans. Jerome is currently not with the group and who knows if/or when he will be back

I agree 200% on that one, without the other members it's just not the same. [Edited 1/18/07 22:59pm]

ABDUL- I love your crying guys!
Funkyg2007- LAUGHHHHHINGGGGG RockW- I'm sure the gents would love to give everybody a new album, but for various reasons aren't able to. I can't spill anymore beans because they're not mine to spill and I don't know the whole story anyhow. I will say this: the guys live in different cities and have families and solo careers and businesses now too. Last but not least, even with everybody in the same city and state it can take YEARS to make an album- especially if it's a good one. I have one more thing to say. I will sure miss Jerome. And so I will leave him a note here in case by some WILD stroke of luck he happens to come upon this post. My Dear Mr. Benton, You play MEAN percussion, you're a great actor and all my guys LOVE you. I liked you a great deal in Parade and The Family. It would be fun to work you into a show if you're visiting sometime. If you're out there, coming home and want to have some good old fashioned fun (at good old fashioned prices- I'm afraid we don't pay quite as well YET), make like Blondie and 'CALL ME'! Ermmmn or something like that! Your fan, Lolly Pop *everybody needs a thrill*

I think LollyPop covered it pretty good. Jerome(and the other fellas)have to do what is right for them. We as fans forget sometimes that they have their own lives and families. We only see the Glamorous part. Not the headaches and hard work that goes on behind the scenes. Do I want him out of the Time? Hell no. Half of the Time's appeal(at least to me)is the interplay between Morris and Jerome on stage. Hell they stole Purple Rain and were the only good part of Graffiti Bridge. You pretty much always hear the phrase "Morris and Jerome"
Sure Morris puts on a good show without Jerome and Jerome was cool with Prince, the Family, Janet and all the other people he has worked with, but its not the same as those 2 individuals working together. Anybody thats been together that long, be it a band, friends or a marriage are going to have arguments and disagreements. When is the last time Jerome wasn't part of a Time show before Saturday? Try never. Even back in the very early days before he became part of the act, he was a roadie(check out the soul train episode from 81 where he's behind the AMP.) Shit he was even in a couple shows in which Morris didn't sing(one with Jesse singing lead and of course the Family Jamm) Morris has been very lucky to have Jerome and all the other fellas stick with him as long as they have. Loyalty should be rewarded. Hopefully it will be. The first thing anybody asks me when I talk about the Time is "Is Jerome still in the group?" Most casual fans just remember Morris and Jerome from Purple Rain. They don't remember Mark Cardenas or Jerry Hubbard. Let's just hope that this is a short situation that will be fixed in the very near future

A Time show without Jerome!?!? That's bad news. He's 50% of the act.

He makes the show and like u said their interaction with each other up on stage is Awesome!!! He will be missed and I really don't think the shows will be the same without him! We support u JB! Morris Day & The Time 4 Life http://launch.groups.yaho...etime4life Maybe I need to start thinking about changing the name of that. [Edited 1/19/07 12:56pm]

TRUST ME, THE "NOW LINE-UP" MORE THAN HOLDS THEIR OWN. TORI, FREEZE and CHANCE ARE SO KICK-ASS (I'VE SEEN THIS INCARNATION TWICE IN SEATTLE), BUT IT'S LIKE "VAN HAGAR" (VAN HALEN WITH HAGAR), OR IN THIS CASE "PART-TIME". AND WHO WANT'S TO WORK "PART-TIME" ???? I HOPE THEY FIX IT AS WELL!!!!! P.S.: MARK CARDENAS IS OUT HERE IN SEATTLE!!!!!

And I'm a huge fan of the ORIGINAL Time but there were NO good parts to Graffiti Bridge including them. I was blessed to see the THE TIME on the 1999 tour and no other line up will ever touch that band.
