Tamar - what's the final word on this?

i've been off the org lately and i'm listening to "Holla & Shout"
right now and was wondering what's the latest word on her.

is her prince-related release really dead in the water now? confused

shame cause she was one of the few paisley protegés with a real
voice, lol.

would have liked to hear her album.

i wonder if she'll leak it herself if it's sure to go in the can.

Interestingly, though, three Prince-produced tracks were made available yesterday at https://www.burnlounge.com/tamardavis (type Tamar Davis into the search box in the top left corner to see the tracks) for 99c each: Holy Ground, Sunday In The Park and All Eye Want Is You (notice it's "You" not "U", although it's "Eye" instead of "I"). They don't actually say that Prince produced them, but at least SITP and AEWIY are the exact same versions previously-heard in the run-up to the aborted Milk And Honey album. The EP is called "Prelude To Tamar", so I'm guessing she'll release the album, perhaps as a digital-only release, but with Tamar as the album title instead of Milk And Honey or Beautiful, Loved And Blessed.

Regardless, the most surprising part to me is that this appears to be done independently of Prince, meaning (I think) that Tamar owns the masters of these songs - for all Prince's talk about artists owning their masters, I always assumed that he wouldn't let his proteges own their masters - I thought he kept hold of them himself.

All to say we may still get all the Prince-related Tamar tracks in time...

and c'mon, this year album sales have pretty much sucked for most anyway, so

I bet you don't hear another word about tamar from the P camp, it usually works out that way when he's had enough on one artist.

10/28/06 - Today I got an e-mail from Amazon.com informing me that I would be receiving Tamar's cd between June 15th & November 15th so I should be seeeing it within the next few weeks.

Do you think Amazon.com is kinda out of the loop?

I don't know exactly what this means, but this message was just posted by a mod at Tamar's forum:

Tamar is...
doing very well and stronger than ever. There has been numerous changes, but its all working out well. No one has introduced an amazing talent for you to never hear from her again. Her supporters and fans are extremely important to Tamar and her career. You will not be disappointed. Continue to check the website and her myspace at www.myspace.com/tamardavis. In the meantime, you may finally enjoy some of Tamars' unreleased songs at her burnlounge store until further news becomes public. We appreciate your inquiries and we hope that you will continue to support Tamar in all that she is doing and about to do!

She must have occupied Prince thoughts for a month and everyone got on the bandwagon, because she was discovered when he was working on 3121 and then they noticed she wasnt his usual squeaky Hispanic sex kitten, but actually a squeaky black sex kitten with impressive tits. After a while Prince realised an album of her ultralightweight musically and talentless debut could never be considered commercially viable. He put that kitty back in its box.

Prince and Tamar are no longer working together. Tamar has been 'dropped' by Universal.

However, as mentioned, we may see the album in some form.

Highly doubt she will be at the Rio, as Prince and Tamar have parted ways.

He image does not appear on the Rio's series of upcoming performers.
