Ingrid Chavez - The Org Q&A...

After some friendly back-and-forth comms of late, Ingrid has kindly agreed to come on board for a Q&A with you guys here on www.prince.org.

Ingrid Chavez - promo shot (1993)

Many of you will remember the successes of last winter's Alan Leeds Q&A, which proved not only informative, but provided some wonderful, previously unheard stories and trivia (it's here if you missd it), - not to mention the fact the regular interactions on the site from Michael B and Robin Power these past few months.

So, the format will remain the same as the Alan Leeds Q&A last December - submit ONE question per orger (multiple questions will be ignored) and the moderation team will choose what are considered the best 20 questions overall.

This thread is only to be used for the purpose of submitting your questions - discussion will simply detract from the whole purpose of this thread. Any questions on this issue should be forwarded to either myself or Luv4u. Alternatively, threads re: Ingrid and her music etc can be opened in the appropriate forum.

We would ask you to note and apreciate the fact that Ingrid will be giving this Q&A out of her own personal time, so please show a little courtesy and respect in return by submitting well-thought out and intelligent questions please - no silliness or ignoring the aforementioned guidelines cuz they'll vanish with the swiftness. Oh, and one final thing - don't forget that she's done a lot more outside of the Paisley gates, so go easy on the whole 'what's Prince like?' schpeel mmmmk? Let's get some interesting stuff coming in.

To help you:

You still here? Get your thinking caps on! wink

Deadline for all submissions is October 26th

Please check the thread prior to posting to ensure your question has not already been asked!

Hi Ingrid. What was the creative process behind writing Justify My Love? Forgive if it's been asked and answered a thousand times. I have just not ever read anything about it. Thanks. biggrin

Ingrid, how was the decision made that you would play Aura in Graffiti Bridge? Were you asked to audition or did Prince just ask you himself?
Thanks

Hello Ingrid,

I'm a big fan, and still listen to your cd often, except now its ripped to my hard drive.

My question is- What was the vibe like at Paisley Park while filming "Graffiti Bridge?" Was everyone having fun expecting it might be a hit? Or was there a sense that the movie might not do well, so there was alot of stress on the set?

Hello Ingrid,

What is Prince like as a director? Does he think out every detail or does he roll the camera and let things happen?

Hi Ingrid

I was just wondering what you thought of Graffiti Bridge the film, and is there anything you would have done differently. Also did you write the poems in the film?

When "Justify My Love" came out I knew they were your words. Did the issues surrounding the songwriting credits sorrow you on the music industry and how did you feel about Prince's fight with Warner Brothers?

Hello Ingrid,

If you were to release a musical project today, would you focus more on your singing or your spoken word talents?

Hi, My question is regarding Prince's vault. I'm wondering if prince ever gave you permission to listen to any unreleased music in the vault? Sense you came in contact with the vault itself. Were you tempted to take any? Catch a glimsp inside? Thanks so much for your time! smile

Ingrid, what was it like recording the spoken intro to Lovesexy? What was the atmosphere like at Paisley Park? Did you nail it in one take or did Prince make you do it over and over again until it was just perfect?

Thank you for your time.

Hello Ingrid. The common story among fans is that Prince initially invisioned your solo album to be an all-spoken poetry album and subsequently pulled out of the project once you wanted to add tracks with singing. Was he angry that you decided to go in this direction, or was it more a professional thing where you both decided to just go your separate ways? What did he think of the finished product?

Thanks!!

Hello, Ingrid.
First I just wanted to let you know that I have enjoyed your poetry very much, and have been writing poetry myself for many years. Being a poet I am sure you have some poetry that are your favorites, what would be one of your favorites? Wanted to let you also know that I like that you are keepin it real, and not letting fame take ahold, and dictate who you should be. Lots of love to you. heart

Since it has been 16 years since this film was released to the public, how do you think it has stood the test of time? I was curious if you (or anyone you know) has ever made it through an entire sitting of the film. As a huge fan of Prince, I doubt that even he can sit through it without cringing as if someone was running their fingernails repeatedly up and down a chalkboard.

Lastly, looking back, do you consider "Graffiti Bridge" to be the beginning of the end to Prince's artistic integrity? Thank you in advance for your reply!

Hi Ingrid!
First of all, wanted to thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to do this for us Orgers. I think we all really really appreciate it.
My question is, in what way, if at all, do you feel Prince has inspired/influenced you most?

Hi Ingrid.
As one of my most favourite Paisley Park Records albums, I'd love to know if you have any standout memories or anecdotes from your time recording 'May 19th, 1992' in the studio?

And P.S. Whenever I play the album for people they always ask 'What's an Elephant Box?'... What would you tell them? razz
