i don't remember the mazarati footage from mtv's UTCM coverage!
that's a whole lot of unfortunate hairstyles on one stage....but they sounded great!

I still can't stand Ingrid Chavez.
It was kinda sad seeing Jill Jones talk about how she likes to sing opera with that interviewer, only to turn around and sing "G-Spot". Prince really held some of the women in his camp back.

Thank u. I still prefer Prince's version of G spot. Nothing against Jill Jones...she has a unique voice and a cool funky eighties style about her...I'm pretty sure he wrote the whole song though.

Why do you say that, Krystal? Jill wrote a lot of stuff in the Prince camp back then.

Why do you say that, Krystal? Jill wrote a lot of stuff in the Prince camp back then. I used to think that too, especially the sly way they did the credits on her album (some Prince, some not).... But I think the Copyright database and the Vault indicate he actually wrote it all. I'm on a trip now and can't verify. Although Jill did co-write some songs on Teena Marie's albums.

Jill Jones & Mazarati were two of THE BEST protege' acts on Paisley Park. Their albums deserved better than they got. NICE FOOTAGE!!!!!

Thanks for posting these links!!!
I never did understand the nonsense that is Ingrid Chavez And I have tried and tried to like Mazarati...can't do it. the lead singers vocals were just weak nad even now they just don't do anything for me. They were like an imitation Time. Love JJ as always. Thanks again!!! I AM BEATLOAF

Why do you say that, Krystal? Jill wrote a lot of stuff in the Prince camp back then. OH I didnt' know that...it's just I am always skeptical when protgee's expecialy eighties protegee's say they wrote a clearly "Prince" song. Just because it's been brought to light that Prince was claiming that the Time, Vanity 6, ect were credited with songwriting credits when we now know that Prince wrote most of those songs alone and recorded them by himself first. i liked ingrid's album just because it was something "different" coming out of paisley park, though a little of it goes a long way. the production reminded me a lot of soulIIsoul, who were big around that time...though the "look" of the album and the general "feel" of it reminds me of cocteau twins for whatever reason (i know prince likes 'em, so maybe that's why)...

I really dig Ingrid, actually. She's deep. She didn't have to rely on Prince to write everything for her, and I can see how that interested him when they were making her album.

Thank you for posting that. I've been swimming in memories over here. I had never heard Ingrid and after the Madonna "Vogue" cinematography I figured, well I didn't miss much.

Ingrid wasn't bad.
Elephant Box had a really cool beat. Unfortunately, only Madonna can get away with breath-talking through a whole damned song. By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!
