Yall need to shut up about Kirk.
For one thing... if you want to be mad at somebody be mad at either prince or yourself. Prince was the one who asked him to play the drums Kirk never asked to play the drums. 2. Prince already knew that kirk's drumming level ins't up to par with Michael Bland or John Blackwell... did he care no... 3. Being flashy, twirling sticks or having fast chops has nothing to do with music. It's all about the music stupid. 4. Prince has said it in an interview once, in modern drummer magazine with John blackwell. The only thing that he require his drummer to do is to keep time, play a groove and lock it in over and over until the pocket is there. That's it!!!!! Ne hever said that you had to be flashy, fast or possess that wow factor that amazes people. 5. Kirk did a good job period. He did good for a drummer who hasn't played drums for years. Believe me... I know him personally that is what he told me. To tell you the truth when prince asked him to play the drums... kirk said no. Then I guess he couldn't pass up the opportunity. I mean who would say no to prince. Kirk said it himself if I understood him correctly... he isn't that serious about drummimng. He prefers to program and produce music. 6. Kirk is my favorite drummer whether yall like it or not. Michael bland is my second favorite and Blackwell is alright. I'm not going to say that he is horrible because he isn't. His playing style just doesn't appeal to me. I take Jellybean Johnson over blackwell anyday. 7. Kirk is good period. 9. If you think his horrible let's see if some of you drummers can play better. I seriously doubt it. If some of you drummers was trying to play for prince, yall couldn't pull it off. Playing for prince is one of the hardest thing you could do even if your playing a simple beat. Trust me. | |
