Tracklist for Sheila E. (1987) I don't think I've ever heard anybody mention this album. Ever. I got a hold of the tracks, so I wanted to know the tracklist order they go in. Any info would be appreciated.

Her best album by far. The first 4 tracks work sooooo well.
I always felt Koo Koo and Hon E Man were the week links. P created a great groove on Koo Koo, but the track itself is like a nursery rhyme outtake! I'm also amazed that "The world is high" got left off the album. Imagine that instead of Soul Salsa or Hon e Man. . [Edited 5/17/06 9:37am] . |

wow. widely different takes here. i love the whole disc, but i think it's the weakest of the 3. hold me is a great song, but out of her range. faded photographs i LOVED LOVED LOVED, but find it really dated now. i love the math facts at the fade out and blend into Koo Koo, a great sparce and simple song. I've never cared much for Pride&thePassion. better suited to Kim Wylde or taylor Dayne. just not a good song, imo. boy's club is super fun -- the spoken parts are great. soul salsa is good. hon e man is a lot of fun and above average. love on a blue train just funks me up!!! http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista | |

It's Sheila! She's the best... *goes to find meds...and kisses Sheila E. poster again* None of her albums were masterpieces. A few good tunes...but most of her albums were mired by cheesy tunes that surrounded classics. Her most solid IMO is in Romance 1600 and even that goes downhill somewhere around Toy Box. Anyone have it on CD?
For some reason I could track down Glamourous Life and Romance 1600 on CD but I've been doomed to rot with merely a cassette copy of Sheila E (1987). | |

I think it was a mistake to release "Koo Koo" as a single.The song is too subtle and laid back,and it has a weak chorus.These should have been the singles from this album... "Hold Me"---brilliant first single that did extremely well on the R&B charts. "Faded Photographs"---a big,catchy rock/pop number with a strong,memorable chorus/hook.With a slick video,could have been a massive pop hit. "The Pride And The Passion"---in many ways,this song seems to be a sequel to "The Glamorous Life". "Love On A Blue Train"---the funkiest jam on the album. | |

[b]KOO KOO is the standout on this CD, for sure. It was great then and still sounds great. It is dripping with Prince influence. |

some more trivia about that song....at an early stage,Sheila's third album was going to be titled "The Pride and The Passion".It was gonna have a cinematic theme,just like her first two albums ('Sheila E in the Glamorous Life'....Sheila E. in Romance 1600').I guess they got tired of this concept and decided to make it a simple,self-titled album. | |

I just recorded this album off of the orignal vinyl onto MP3! Also "tidied" it up a bit by increasing the volume and adding some bass and it's sounding sooooo good now. My fave track, Love on a Blue Train. | |
