this looks like another npgmc website..
and for all those folks b*tching that American Idol is beneath Prince, what the hell is up with him pushing former AI contestants and a former Star Search contestant (ie, the twins and tamara)? when you got girls like rosie, margie cox and jill jones screwed by Prince and these girls are getting all the attention it makes me sick... So do I. couldn't they have come up with some kind of names for them, like he did with diamonds and pearl? i mean, even THAT was silly, but it at least showed some kind of imagination. or heck, he could have even called them the 3121 girls and it would have sounded better. but no. "well, they look a lot alike. let's call them the twins. no. better yet, twinz. that'll give them street cred. OWWAH!"

The "Twinz" annoy me to no end. I hope their 15 minutes are almost up. I maintain my stance that they cannot sing. (I heard them firsthand at Nokia.) On their other website, twinzentertainment.com or something they talk about how it would be their dream to work with MJ. Not a peep about Prince...I think they will just jump on anyone's bandwagon if it will further their career.
The only good thing is that at least the text/info on their website is written in proper English, not Princebonics. PS. I'm not trying to sound harsh, but I find nothing extraordinary about them aside from the fact that they are twins (and even that's not SO uncommon). If there were only one, she wouldn't get a second glance/listen from anyone. The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Yeah, "The Twinz" is so corny.
Is he trying to launch them into their own act?

"well, they look a lot alike. let's call them the twins. no. better yet, twinz. that'll give them street cred. OWWAH!" You nailed it. I agree completely. Naming them the Twinz is unimaginative and corny, and the "z" tacked onto the end plummets the name down even further. But you know, anytime you stick a "z" onto the end of a word it immediately makes it HIP and URBAN and - like you said - gives it STREET CRED. It's gimmicky, and just makes it seem like he's trying too hard, and that's where the lameness comes in big time. "TwinZ" makes me think of those stupid BratZ dolls too. Here's a crazy thought -- why not just refer to them by their real first names? I realize performers use stage names that are maybe more flashy than their own names or that the public might have an easier time remembering, but unless these twins' names is Bertha or Hortense or something containing 50 consonants and one vowel, why not just call them "X and X"? It's not like anybody's going to really be remembering them 5 years from now anyway, no matter what they're called..

WillyWonka said: Here's a crazy thought -- why not just refer to them by their real first names? Yes, the fact that they are seldom referred to as Maya and Nandy really bothers me, it's like they don't have their own identities/personalities--they only exist in relationship to one another. (If that's the case they could just as easily be called Thing 1 and Thing 2. ) Although I think Twinz might actually be their gimmick, since their other website refers to them as that, and it was created before they starting working with Prince. The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. It's not like anybody's going to really be remembering them 5 years from now anyway, no matter what they're called.. I agee. They should just go by their names. Mya and Nandy are pretty "unique" and uncommon. Sometimes Prince just has to be "extra" with things. Like how he obviously suggested to Tamar that she go by her middle name instead of her first name. I guess Ashley was too plain. But when all is said and done, the whole "twinz" thing is just too gimicky, like a novelty act.

"Thing 1 and Thing 2". Excellent point about using their own names and creating/having their own identities. I agree with you. Perhaps they feel they don't have a lot going for them talentwise or whatever (when put up against the zillions of other dancer types out there right now, also trying to seek fame and fortune) and so they want to play up the twinny-novelty act angle and capitalize on that. I didn't realize their other website referred to them as the Twinz, and pre-Prince. Interesting.

And yep, Twinz=gimmicky. Prince must like the dancers-ending-with-a-Z thing. Maybe he can team up the TWINZ with THE GAME-BOYZ.

I don't give a shit about the "z" at the end and I can careless what they "sound" like. All I know is that they're FINE as hell. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."
