What are some of the other great Wendy and Lisa songs I should get into? Well, you've mention a track from their 1st and 2nd album..probably the best thing is just to start at the beginning and work your way from there... Try their self-titled debut album "Wendy & Lisa". It contains Waterfall and several other tracks with a similar feel.

I love them too!
I agree though, go in chronological order My favourite, and possibly the easiest to get into is the first one "Wendy & Lisa". It's also the most similar to the Revolution sound, being that it was released only 1987 (I think?) Second is Fruit At The Bottom, also a top album, but Ive never got into Eroica as much You can get them all really cheap on eBay, have a look!

I will follow your advice along with jtfolden's advice. It is funny you said, the "Wendy & Lisa" album sounds the most like the Revolution. I was listening to "Waterfall" and "Are You My Baby" and my first thought was they both sound very "prince-ish" to me.

When you realise what time they came out at, and what had just happened to the band, you can see the join, so to speak. Now Im not implying that W&L didnt change and grow and do something different from the band they'd just been kicked out of, of course they did!!! I love W&L. But you can see the progression So if youre a fan of the old skool like me, check them out!!

Exactly, and it is obvious they grew because Prince even covered one of their songs on one of his later albums if memory serves me. If that isn't flattery - I don't know what is. I loved the albums Prince did with Wendy and Lisa. I thought there might be hope that they would play on 3121 but alas. Maybe next album..?

I for one was ecstatic enough just to see them play together at the Brits! I dunno, the kind of thing Prince is doing now seems too far removed from what theyre doing, like theyve both gone in different directions... but then thats for them to decide, not me! Would be great though!! I wanna see them live together!!!

Eroica is the best of the bunch imo. That one has every style of music and has killer songs. It has more of an alt-rock feel than anything. Its the album that representst them the best. Girl Bros is almost as good...that album makes me sad tho...since most of the songs are about the death of Wendy's brother. But still excellent.
1st album always a treasure...like Fruit at the Bottom the least only because it sounded forced and like they were trying too hard to sound like Prince.

Well, technically, their label at the time pretty much TOLD them to make it sound like Prince so it would - hopefully - be more commercial in the, then, current market. I still think it's an excellent effort as a whole and was just trying to imagine the other day what it might have sounded like with Prince's production talents and his vocals on lead for some of the tracks.

The great ballad "Song About" should be your next W&L indulgence. Living to die and I'll die to live again - 360 degrees - comprehend

I don't hate Fruit at the Bottom and I think it definitely would have been better if Prince produced it since that was the angle they were going for. I just don't think it represents them as well as the others as artists. It makes sense the label told them to make it sound like other hits of the day...I think its the only one that sounds dated.

Are You My Baby. That song is fonky.
I happened to hear that song for the first time while played Ben Liebrand's 89 megamix. Didn't realized it was them until after I checked the playlist.

i agree that going in chronological order is best, since you've got only 4 albums to go through (5 if you count re-mix..., which is worth a listen)
i love them all, in this order: eroica girl bros. wendy & lisa fruit re-mix song highlights for me: valley vista staring at the sun mother of pearl don't try to tell me reaching one let's say love & trouble all i wonder/anyway the life waterfall anything but you honeymoon express lolly lolly are you my baby i think it was december http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista

I'm not a big fan of Fruit at the Bottom, but given the songs you like, that wouldn't be a bad place to start.
You might find that it's out of print, though - so hard to find. Another way to go would be the more recent "greatest hits" album that has tracks from the first two albums combined.

LOL Calm down my friend... I only meant in the context of trying to make a Prince sounding album.
