I'm just asking people what they think.

That question's too stupid to even answer, but Mayte was hotter, 'cause her dancing and ass were amazing. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

I'm just asking people what they think. I know for a fact that Vanity was his one and only true love not Mayte. Prince practically dedicated the Purple Rain CD to his lady love!

Obviously neither one was or he'd still be with her...
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Well, I don't know who his soul mate was and really, I don't care. But we as human beings are not very smart and tend to not know what we have until it's gone. So, some of us do lose our soul mates in the process of searching for what we THINK we don't have or for that something "better".

I'm just asking people what they think. I know Krys, but still. If u asked P that same question, he would probably say some stupid shit like "I'm just looking for the ladder." SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

I have to go with Mayte. They were together from like 1993 to 1999ish. She wasn't legal the whole time, but he wooed her the whole time.
In contrast, he was a lot younger when he met Vanity. He was more into his career. She was into hers but drugs took up a big chunk of her time (and P wasn't into that). Plus, they didn't really date for that long. I think people keep mentioning Vanity because it was a hot period musically and there's nostalgia there. Come here, babe.. yeah...

Back in 1982 and 1983,I don't think Prince was serious about any woman. If Vanity was really his one and only true love back then, why was he also dating Susan Moonsie, too? Around that time,he was also messing around with Susannah Melvoin (who inspired the song "Beautiful Ones").None of us know the real story, but I just find it hard to believe that a young, successful rock star could settle down and be serious with one woman.

Is it my turn yet to pretend I actually know a lot about Prince's personal life and feelings? The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

It sounds like Prince and Vanity had a pretty volitle relationship if the Purple Rain story was any indication of how they really were.

You know what, you are so right. Vanity is pretty cool, i mean everyone has their good and bads. But Vanity can make some good tunes, and she can act. She probably made alot more record deals then Mayte did with her album. But i just find that Mayte has this spark, specially when she dances. I personally find that dancing is so sexy, that it can grab any mans attention. Mayte is a big inspiration for the way i dance also. *Thankyou for a Funky good time.. Well belive me Vanity had no trouble getting a man's attention! But yeah I know what you mean...dancing for a man is so exciting to them because it is an expression of femininity and sensuality.

Mayte probably meant more to Prince emotionally. Listening to Emancipation, he seemed more concerned about proving his devotion to her than making good music. It's distracted, unfocused work. It was about Mayte, not the music.
Musically, the Vanity era just smokes everthing from the 90s. And the image of Prince and Vanity on Rolling Stone is more iconic than anything with Prince and Mayte. For a woman, it's an interesting choice of roles. To be the one who inspired his most memorable work in the prime of his career? Or the one who actually got to his heart after his fame had plateaued?

By the time Susannah came along it seemed that Prince and Denise were pretty much on the outs.
