Jellybean on Guitar We all know what a great drummer Jellybean is, but it seems to me that he should be getting some love for his guitar playing as well. I've heard some of the stuff he's done with Ronnie Baker Brooks and Benard Allison and I really dig it. The stuff he's done with JB and the Routine is just great, especially when he goes to town on their version of Atlantis. Hell I didn't know for a long time that he played that guitar on Fishnet, I just saw Johnson and I thought it was Jesse. Much props to my man

Yeah, I talked to him about that before. He's real humble about it. He said "Man, just doin' what I gotta do". IMO Jellybean is the most down-to-earth cat out of the entire P camp. He's "cool" to the nth degree.

he is usually the first cat to come to the stage at a Time concert, I yell "Jellybeeeeen!", and he waves a peace sign

Much props to my man Although I think he's a better drummer, He's quite a good guitarist. He also played the guitar solo on Nona Hendryx song "Why Should I Cry" and I understand that's him playing lead on "Innocent" by Alexander O'Neal. I remember back in the Purple Rain days, seeing him driving that red seville with "JELLYBEAN" on the license plates. Too cool.

I saw him on the BET Jazz channel once (They were featuring the Blues) And I've been hooked ever since. What songs did he do with Bernard?

It's like Ernie Isley in reverse; Ernie is a better guitarist that is a good drummer. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

Jellybean plays some guitar on some of Janet's Control tracks I believe.... and I think he co-wrote 1 or 2 tracks. In fact, on "You Can Be Mine" (a great song that was one of the only non-singles on the album) you hear Janet calling him during a guitar solo saying, "Jellybean..... Jellybean!".
On St. Paul's DVD he just released Jellybean comes out and plays guitar for 1 or 2 songs (I think the High Fashion Mutiny medley). He has an interesting way of playing..... I dont play guitar but it looks like he does elec rhythm gtr without a pick and kind of strums up the strings. He does seem very cool although I never met him.

Janets Control album could be called a Time album, everyone worked on it except Morris and Jesse

Yeah that would be cool for him to get up and play the guitar on some songs and it would also be cool to see Morris on the drums as well.

Never thought about it but you're right! And maybe Alexander O'Neal's Heresay album too.

And Jesse worked on the album before 'Control'. And I believe he plays guitar on one of the "Black Cat" remixes. So Janet has worked with all the original Time members at some point except Morris.
