SLY STONE JOINS FAMILY

SLY STONE JOINS FAMILY

SLY STONE made his first public appearance in twelve years at L.A.'s Knitting Factory last Monday. The funk legend was there to see the SLY AND THE FAMILY STONE tribute band, PHUNK PHAMILY AFFAIR, featuring his younger sister VET. "I think he was overwhelmed with emotion to see so many people still moved by his words," Vet told Rolling Stone. "Different Strokes by Different Folks," a Stone covers album -- featuring MAROON 5, the ROOTS, MOBY, CHUCK D and BUDDY GUY -- available now only through Starbucks, will see release in September.

WHAAAAT!!!! Was that shit even announced before hand that the tribute band was even playing? I would have went to the shit, just on the power of Sly's music. That's in my neck of the woods! Ain't that some shit?!

omfg Sly Stone is still alive and kicking! Nice to see Sly getting out in public. From what people have told me, Sly was a bit of a recluse who kind of kept to himself and didn't get out much.
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

That album sucks.

The only good song on there is "Runnin' Away" performed by Sleepy Brown, Big Boi and Killer Mike

Is Sly's 'Sex Machine' the same as the song James Brown sings?

It sounds completely different - it's an instrumental, apart from "We blew your mind" at the end". I've always wondered what the connection was, if any.

Yeah, he produced "Runnin' Away" and his new artist, Scar's, song "You Caught Me Smiling"
