Did you think Vanity 6/Apollonia 6 were sexist? I know Prince had a reputation as a sexist/chavanistic man, expecially in eighties, and Vanity 6/Apollonia 6 kinda was a perfect example of this thease sexy, blowup dolls in lingere singing about pleasing men and using their sexuality to get what they want and to know they were controlled by a man in the background must have pissed some women off. It never really bothered me..I just thought they were sexy but I can see how alot of feminists would totally be offended by Prince and his creations.
Did you think this side prodject was offensive to you as a woman?

As in most things in life, it depends which way you view it.
i.e. whether you see it as the women controlling the men through sex, or whether the fact that Prince told them to dress this way was an example of men controlling women. Probably good arguments on both sides.

I'd say they were sexy rather than sexist. Besides, I see very little difference between Vanity 6/Appollonia 6's attire back then and the way many young female performers nowadays are scantily clad onstage and in videos-except for a few notable and talented exceptions like Alicia Keys. Never let anyone put u in their little box...hell, u might start suffocating!

I was too young to think in terms of what was sexist or not. But I do remember thinking that Vanity had serious self esteem issues to let prince dress her up and treat her in certain ways.
