Beck - Midnight Vultures Forgive me if this has ben said before but Midnight Vultures is just so good I wish Prince would have recorded something like it! The sounds are very similar to stuff around SOOT period and Debra is just so spine tingling good while serioulsy funny! I suspect if Beck had started his career in the late 70s he may well be regarded in the same way as Prince/Madonna/Jackson.

midnite vultures is beck's 'funk album', with a few songs that sound more than a bit like classic prince. if you like that album, then you should check out 'odelay', 'sea change' and 'guero'.

Debra is definitely damn classic. If you ask me, it is Beck at his best. He surpast the Odelay album when made this cut.

I like Mutations better than Odelay even, but it's not as funky. Still it's more uptempo than Sea Change, and I think might appeal more to Prince fans.
But Midnight Vultures is soooo inspired by Prince--nothing wrong with that though. So far I like MV better than Guero, but that may change. Check this song out at:

You have to admit at times that Beck does have some rhythm in his bones so I will give him a honorary Funk Pass .
