Prince and Nona Gaye Did they ever have a relatioship or was it strictly a business relationship? and if so, why did the break up? I remember seeing one of her videos some years back. I think Prince was in it. She is pretty. | |

AFAIK Nona was "The most beautiful girl in the world". She featured heavily in The Beautiful Experience film, and of course also on the Love Sign song. I don't know anything more about their relationship. Life it ain't real funky unless you got that orgPop. | |

According to Nona, they never consumated the relationship, so I have never considered her to be his girlfriend (not that sex makes a romantic relationship, but with Prince I found it a bit odd for him to date a woman and not have sex with her). I am convinced Beyonce's career would not be where it is, if she had dark skin. | |

Okay to clarify, P and Nona "dated" for three years, a time that Nona said was full of mind trips and head screws. By her own admission, she never got to know him and never really allowed him to know her. It ended when she went to see him in concert...and saw Mayte wearing his engagement ring. I read an article referring to an interview and she said something like she was really young and didn't really know what she was doing at the time, sort of naive, or something like that, matter of fact, the interview was posted on a thread on this very website...I'm sure if you do search on google, you may find more about it. Not to call Nona a liar but...is she fucking serious? How young was Nona when she said this? She also did "1000 Hugs and Kisses", "Snowman", "We March" and the title track to the "Girl 6" soundtrack - again, all with Prince. I think she was one of his vocalists like Rosie Gaines was - not exactly in the NPG, but a part of his sound for a while. I haven't heard "We March" just yet... But, that's what you're implying.When it came to Prince at that time. That's why I said, but with Prince. Sex does not MAKE a romantic relationship for a lot of people and I don't believe Prince was one of those people. If you believe Prince had a romantic relationship with a woman of age at that time for that long, and didn't have a sexual encounter at least once, I don't think you are being realistic. The Prince of today, probably, but not the Prince of then. Personally, I have my own reasons for believeing Nona when she said they never consumated, but I don't feel like dealing with the flames that would most definitely come with posting those reasons. I agree it was all mind games. I don't believe in Prince's mind he ever intended to be in a relationship with her.....and wasn't. All Nona has ever said about Prince is that 1) yes, they dated, 2) it was a big-ass head trip, and 3) her drug abuse contributed to their breakup. No accusations of abuse, no verifying the rumors that Prince kept her drugged up to control her...the worst thing she ever said about the man is that they didn't know each other in all the time they dated. And I'm pretty sure she'd stop saying anything at ALL if the press would STOP ASKING HER. It's obvious that she's said all she'll ever say about the matter. This is as funny as that wire the press ran about Nona still being "bitter" about the breakup, and then completely DELETING the part where she said she nothing but "warm and forgiving feelings to send his way". Just because NadiaAdare has Nona Gaye as a avatar doesn't negate anything I've heard or read, nor my reasons for not believing Prince was in a "romantic" relationship with her. She may think so, but I don't believe Prince does. Also, the fact that she is still talking about it, says a lot. More than likely for the rest of her "career" she will be talking about her father (which is understandable) and Prince, and if you can't see WHY that is, I'm not going to be the one to explain it to you. I think this relationship says alot about Prince and black women. All the women that he has been romantically linked with were white or other races anything but black and here is the one black woman he allegedely dated and now the rumors are that they never consumated the relationship. I always noticed that the only black women around him were biracial and I was aware of this at a young age I love his music but I have always resented the way he distanced hisself from black women. | |

I wouldn't put too much stock into this so called rumor. The poster is going on his/her own feeling about the relationship. The fact the poster stated he/she read an interview where Nona said this but neglected to site the source sounds like he/she pulled it out of his tush threw it out there as fact. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

If you want to be exact about it...Nona is 1/4 white, 1/4 Cuban and 1/2 African-American. Well ya' learn something everyday. I didn't know she was 1/4 Cuban. Thanks for the knowledge.
