'Musicology' On Billboard's Year-End Charts

'Musicology' ranks no.25 on Billboard's year-end list of the top albums of 2004. Usher, of course, is number one.
http://www.billboard.com/...b200_2.jsp

And how many people thought it wouldn't even rank no.25 for a week, much less for the year?

Don't forget that Prince included the disc with each ticket on the Musicology tour. Billboard was forced to include each of those promo discs as a sale. And the tour was a huge success with 375 billion tickets sold.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

The only bitch in that equation is Usher....Clear Chanel's bitch. Once he pisses them off, the party is over! I don't think Usher is that bad, but I'm even with his huge ego that he has to question the massive airplay of his 5 or so singles this year, especially considering the fact that radio usually harps on one single for about 4 months at a time and he had 3 number ones in the late spring and early summer alone!

The point is that the world's most famous child molester has the #1 album of all time. Does that say anything about chart position and quality? Is Thriller better than Sgt Peppers, Purple Rain, Dark Side of the Moon, Like a Virgin, Saturday Night Fever, or Nevermind?????

#1 just means that a lot of suckers got conned into buying some shit someone was selling. I love Prince, but that's how I ended up with 4 copies of "Musicology". Good Marketing is all that it proves.

Man, there should be a law banning anyone from comparing Prince to Usher. Just because he's number 1 doesn't mean that he made the best album of the year because he didn't. I finally listened to a burnt copy of "Confessions" last week and I'll admit it wasn't bad but it is VERY overrated. It's not even his best to me (I give that to "My Way"). It's the power of promotion and he needs to give props to Clear Channel for forcing that shit down our throat for the entire year including right now as we speak.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

uhhh...Ashlee Simpson, Jessica Simpson and Hillary Freaking Duff finished ahead of Prince...which means...? That album sales don't mean shit except that the label will bring you back for another spin. But once you don't play on MTV and fall off...better hope you've invested your money well, otherwise get your resume ready - I think Starbucks is looking for holiday help!

AND DONT FORGET squirrelgrease THAT THE OTHER TOP 100 BILLBOARD ALBUMS OF THE YEAR HAVE BIG AIRPLAY ON MTV, RADIO, PRESS AND GREAT SUPORT FROM THE RECORD COMPANYS.

I WILL LIKE TO SEE ANY OF THIS YEAR TOP ALBUMS FROM Usher, OutKast, Josh Groban, Alicia Keys, Norah Jones, Evanescence, Toby Keith and Britney Spears MAKE IT TO THIS LIST WITH NO RADIOPLAY,NO MTV, NO STUDIO SUPORT ETC,ETC. IMPOSIBLE!!!! COUSE THEY DONT SELL 375 BILLION TICKETS ON TOUR, SO squirrelgrease "GET OFF!"

i admit i own the new Usher CD, because my daughter (7year old) listens to the radio and that is what the Radio stations only play. Causing me to go out and buy it. Didnt prince educate us during the ONA tour about radio stations owned by record companies.

I'm glad Prince did what he did in 2004. Every Prince Fam was waiting 4 this year, being the 20th anniversary of "Purple Rain" and the induction in2 the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I'm a radio DJ, and believe me NONE, not even Usher, could sell out arenas like Prince did, even though these "hot new artists" tried 2 tour this year. The recording and touring industry is in a slump, and the business is 2 blame. They are grooming sales, not artists, and Prince was the first 2 call them out way back in the 90's by writing "slave" on his face. Now he's proving the industry wrong and showing the world how it should be done.

As 4 Musicology, it was the perfect album 2 compliment the tour. It is more accesible 2 the common fan who remember Purple Rain and nothing else. Rainbow Children was a good album, but in my opinion those songs sounds a lot better on the One Nite Alone Live recording. I saw both touring shows (of course) in Portland, and 2 me One Nite Alone was a better show. The casual fan may have favored the Musicology show due 2 it's "Greatest Hits" song selection.

The only albums I have purchased on this list are: Speakerboxxx, Musicology, Damita Jo and Slipknot Vol. 3. Some artists really don't deserve to be on this chart, though...

Few of us ever thought Prince would chart at this level again. Congrats to him and I hope he builds on his success this year. It's been almost 20 years since he had a good year from start to finish.
