MORRIS DAY- MPLS. Best Drummer?!

Prince and Jimmy Jam always talk about Morris's legendary status as the best drummer in Mpls. and an inspiration to all of them. I've never heard or seen Morris play drums.. is there any video footage of Morris on drums, or any demos?

check out 'Cloreen Baconskin' on the Crystal Ball cd. It's basically 10 plus minutes of Morris on drums and P on bass.

he will do a little bit or percussin in the Time concerts sometimes(using Jerome's set up) Jellybean also raves about him as a drummer. He was suppose to be the drummer in the Time and alexander O Neal was to be the singer, but it didn't work out with him and prince moved Morris to front man and brought jellybean back in. I*'m thinking he played on some track that Jam and lewis produced for somebody a few years ago, a female singer, but its escaping my mind right now

Morris don't show his drumming skills usually. And then you have great drummers/singers like Phil Collins and Don Henley...Morris, show your skills baby!

Yea I forgot that, but that's a pretty basic teack, sounds like a demo for "Irrsistable Bitch"

I'm guessing Morris must be an amazing dummer if all the fellas are giving him props all these years. I bet he can play "777-9311" better than Jellybean.

I think I remember reading that Morris played drums on "I Wanna Be Your Lover" and some other tracks on that album, but Prince took the credit. Not sure if it's true, but..

I have a CD of a concert from 1st Avenue, where Prince calls Morris onstage and he plays drums for "PartyUp!"

It's cool. He's got chops.

he's probably the only one that played on any of the first two time albums besides prince and members of the revolution. I do remember something about him playing some of the stuff on what time is it, but I don't know if a specific song oe songs were mentioned.

I'm sure he probably did the stuff on his solo albums as well as the dayz stuff, but yeah, for somebody as bad ass as he is suppose to be, there is not muched recorded stuff to document it

I always love watching The Time. Morris is awesome, and he DOES get a lot of respect for his drumming ability. BUT.....it would be hard to call anyone "best" when Michael Bland still lives in Minneapolis. biggrin just my opinion. Michael is a bad bad man in a good good way. Still though.....something is in the water up there in Minneapolis.....because there are a TON of great musicians.
