Support Dance Theatre of Harlem- closing it's doors!!! Many of you should remember when Prince held a benefit concert for this dance company at the Padiladdium in the late 1990's.
"Rave Unto the Year 2000" dancer Tai Jimenez is a principal dancer in this company. Its professional company, ballet school, and arts education programs have achieved unprecedented success around the world. FACT: On September 21, 2004, DANCE THEATRE OF HARLEM announced that, due to financial difficulties, its professional company would be placed on hiatus. FACT: On October 16, 2004, the DANCE THEATRE OF HARLEM SCHOOL suspended operations for the first time in its history. The DTH School has been a positive influence in the lives of thousands of children not only from Harlem and New York City, but also from cities across the United States and around the world. WHAT WE ARE DOING: Like a Phoenix rising from the ashes, DANCE THEATRE OF HARLEM is determined to restore our company, school, and arts education programs.   I am glad that you brought this to the orgs's attention. As a dancer, this theater along with the Broadway School of Dance, seved as inspiration for me growing up. | |

Thanks for posting this.
I hope they get enough money to stay open. They are a great Dance Company. I saw them perform this dance called "Signs and Wonders"...It was Amazing! Even my Mom was impressed!   ~~~~~~~~~~~
